Normally this should be removed under the “We’re not YPTB” rule, but as this is a new situation I’ll allow this thread to act as a megathread. New posts about this will be removed, so post any new memes here.

On one hand, I get .org’s admins’ reasoning, and don’t disagree with the core of it - no one wants a fucking police visit to their house over a hobby project.

On the other hand, it’s a strong reason for me to not use Feddit.org (separate from Feddit.uk) comms at all, regardless of the comm’s individual position on the ongoing Palestinian genocide.

Have you even read the official feddit.org announcement? There is nothing in there that would prevent a serious discussion of the atrocities of the Israeli government. They simply ask to not call for ethnic clensing of an entire group of people or to relativise the holocaust. That is an extremely low bar (which should be common sense) and if that prevents you from participating in feddit.org comms that is really a you problem.

It’s broader than that - it also forbids comparisons of the Israeli government to Nazis. You may say that that’s just an issue of tone that doesn’t prevent serious discussion, and you aren’t wrong - but I have no interest in getting tone policed on a fucking genocide either, regardless of German law.

No, they’re not. You are not legally required to act this extreme. This is a personal choice by the instance admins and users.

For instance example there is zero law against not banning those who deny the genocide of Palestinians, but your instance continues to defend them.

To paraphrase you: Learn English or use a better translation software as you got the meaning behind that comment totally wrong.

“This extreme” apparently means now allowing pretty much everything except relativising the holocaust and calling for ethnic cleansing of jews. And no, those things are very much not allowed in Germany.

If you deny any genocide including one of Palestinians that is against Feddit.org instance rules and will likely get you banned.

Please stop spreading completely false information.

Please show actual proof of that. The feddit.org accounts I saw being banned on YPTB were not banned because of actual cases of genocide deniyal. If you can show an actual case I am more than happy to escalate that with the feddit.org admins.

Calls for or support of any non-peaceful resistance against Israel are banned.

Nice to see that good meaning critics of israels war crimes are being judged by details instead of doing something more useful for your general movement. Surely it hurts you so much that you can’t compare the idf to nazis but still can say how what israel’s doing sucks and is a war crime
