I didn’t know any of this, but I went to a pizza ranch and they had a HUGE mural of colonizers moving across the desert in wagons, with a dude on a horse holding a gun in the front. It was unsettling as fuck and I glared at it the whole time I ate my shitty pizza.

There was another chain with the same terrible quality back where I’m from, and I have to admit I do love trashy pizza on a very rare occasion, though I do fully acknowledge it for being the Long John Silvers of pizza.

there’s so many better options though

I mean shit, caseys, literal gas station pizza, is much better

and its the usual buffet thing where its only a good deal if you’re eating a metric boatload

As a non-American, Pizza ranch just sounds like ranch dressing that is made to be put on pizza, that’s something that happens in the US, isn’t it?

there was (is?) a chain of all you can eat pizza places (CiCi’s), like you pay a single price, get a plate, and then make as many trips as you want to the buffet for however much mediocre pizza and breadsticks you want.

there was also a sad little salad bar there which had buckets of chilled dressing, including ranch.

the “move” was to load up on slices and get a glob of that ranch on your plate for your breadsticks and crusts.

I’m sure you can imagine how amazing and full of self-respect one felt after deciding they had consumed all that was possible to eat and emerging from the building to go home.

that feeling is the magic of America.

Wow, I might have worked under a member of his extended family. The owner of the local pizza ranch had the same last name and bought a bunch of other local businesses in the area, making him eventually become my boss… I guess I need to start doing more research on this specific pedophile.

checking back in. I haven’t been able to find the exact relation to my guy. But most of the family is small business tyrants. I think my guy might be a nephew of Lawrence. The former Cowboys player Leighton Vander Esch is closely related to both of them. Leighton’s dad is Lawrence’s cousin and was arrested for domestic violence with his second wife and first wife was murdered (possibly by him, but still unsolved). Crazy family

edit: also, my guy became a volunteer high school coach, so…

I used to work at a True Value in PA owned by an older gay dude. Learner later he used to own 3-4 gay bars in the Boston area but then got busted for running a cocaine smuggling operation through them.

I went to Iowa once. That place is the literal embodiment of the spiritual essence of ‘children of the corn’.

If I had to live there, I’d do even more deprived shit than collect semen samples from teenager.

I lived in Iowa for most of my life, only a half hour from where Children of the Corn was filmed. I wish I could argue with you, but it is insanely boring, bigoted, and sexually repressed.
