Boxer loses fight, conservatives pretend to care about women or womens’ sports and lose their minds. Same song, different day.

Imagine. All the horrible, tragic, and important things happening in the world and what you all choose to (pretend to) care about is the chromosomal makeup of Olympic boxers.

Also the boxer isn’t even trans. The article says she grew up female and her parents discouraged her from getting into boxing as a kid because it was seen as a masculine sport. It seems like she only discovered she has a Y chromosome once she joined a boxing league that checked the chromosomes of boxers. The Olympics don’t have rules regarding chromosomes of athletes so she’s allowed to compete.

        @ImplyingImplications @originalfrozenbanana

people who justify men beating up women simply don’t belong in civilized society. outside of election results that beggar belief, it’s easy to just decide these shills aren’t real - like the bots we see that forget to change the language, or the paid astroturf accounts.

OMG did you hear about project 2025? women will be men’s property? uh, no, you’re thinking of the olympics. the opening ceremony was mentall illness, this is just more of hte same.

@ImplyingImplications @originalfrozenbanana Finally, somebody here is getting to the root of the discussion.

Does #ImaneKhelif have a Y chromosome? Maybe she is #intersex or something. At first I thought she just might have above average #testosterone or was juicing.

I am no fan of men competing against women but I feel like if she was #trans, she would have either said something about it, or someone from her past would have.

Anyone born with a Y chromosome is a man or intersex. He didn’t know he was a man/intersex until later in life, but that absolutely refutes “born female”, “is female”, “she’s cis”, and “woman from birth”. He should not be in women’s sports, because he is not a woman

My comment was not long, I’m not sure why you skipped past the “or intersex” twice in it.

I don’t know what’s in his pants. I haven’t seen anyone claim other than you that he has a vagina, but that doesn’t really matter. Intersex people can have ambiguous genitals. He is still not a woman, and should not be in women’s sports. He is free to compete in men’s sports.

We agree with each other? He’s either a man or intersex. He shouldn’t be competing in women’s sports.

You should just state “I am a misogynist” then instead of trying to deflect by saying other bad things exist too. People are allowed to care about multiple bad things going on at the same time.

Your presidential candidate is an actual sex predator, your political party consistently erodes the rights of women, and I guarantee none of you could name either woman boxer from the story without checking twice. Your credibility when it comes to what misogyny is is nil

She’s not a man. Either you think everyone with XY chromosomes is a man, even if they have female genitals, or you acknowledge that neither genitals nor chromosomes alone are sufficient to define gender and you acknowledge that trans people exist as their identified gender. You don’t get it both ways.

Sorry I forgot for a second where I was and just wasted all that energy typing out something you won’t read because your side doesn’t care about the truth.

Literally no one buys it. “Aw golly gee I just care about fairness in women’s sports” nah bro you hate trans and nonbinary people. Own it! Be the bigot you really are, loud and proud!

Woah hold on. I have been informed Angela Carini has 5 fights under her belt. How is somebody with 5 fights in the Olympics? That’s why she lost, she had no business being there. This has nothing to do with gender or sex, it was about experience and skill.

Thank you for your input friend, but where did I say I thought men fighting women is ok?

What I did say was that I thought for the Olympics, which is ostensibly supposed to be for elete level athletes, it makes no sense to put someone with 5 fights in their career up against someone with 50. That Italian woman was the Jamaican bobsled team of boxing.

I think I understand your point about the testing though. Fun fact: you know who else was all about regulating people based on genetics? Rudolph Hess and the rest of the nazi crew. Hess said that Nazism was “applied biology” and what with all the people talking about biology this and biology that I see those ideas haven’t died out.

This circles back to why we sexual sports leagues to being with.

If a xy athlete has a statistical advantage over a xx athlete, do we care?

If we don’t care then we setup one league regardless of genders.

If we do care, then we segment the groups and have multiple leagues.

the IOC is going to have to come out with a clear mission statement and define the purpose of their parallel leagues. I think there will be lots of debate as people are mixing gender identity vs chromosomes and developmental hormones. I don’t envy the IOC officials

I feel like their plan is to just keep avoiding the discussion until something bad happens or we hit a flashpoint moment of some sort, and that’s going to be bad for everyone except the IOC because they can say they were ‘forced to take action’ and wash their hands of it.

I hate where we’re at but I get their reasoning, I don’t see any fair solution here, they’re all unfair.

The reason for women’s leagues is to encourage women to join and enjoy the sport. Hard to enjoy a sport when the opponents demolish you every time. Thus, women’s leagues are closed to men, but men’s leagues are open to women.
