I don’t know anyone who uses steam chat or parties instead of something like Discord, so I’m not sure it really matters.

I have definitely used both of those and I use the chat often. Often times I link up with people from steam forums (or elsewhere) to help with achievements in game and having to add them on discord is just another step that I dont want to do and takes longer.

With that being said even if those are added I’m not moving my ’ library’ of games to epic

The issue with steam group chat is that discord has existed longer and has incumbency. My friend group tried it out some time ago and the features are all there, the issue was getting people adjacent to our group to bother. We keep it as a backup though.

At the very least, Lemmy users care. They continually claim that’s their number one issue with Epic Games as an alternative to Steam.

Really? I would think the biggest problem Lemmy users have with Epic is their business practices, not a lack of social features.

That’s what people complained about in the few recent posts I saw about Epic Games and Steam in this community.
