2015 is the clear inflection point
Yup. A small drop due to 2008 financial crash’s after effects. Then a steady rise back. And 2014-15-16 everything crumbles down.
Is there consensus as to why?
Social media and rise of foreign interference in elections, paired with massive increases in inequality.
Eh. Obviously not great and of course it will get worse but a scale from 5.2 to 5.6 is bound to look extreme in either direction.
I can kinda see how Mexico is a “hybrid regime.” Its current president won with approximately 60% of the vote. Its federal government is enjoying unprecedented approval from its citizens. OTOH dozens of mayoral candidates have been assassinated by cartels over the past few years.
Surprised France is back to a full democracy, I remember it was demoted to flawed circa 2022 ? I don’t feel like the recent political events here have improved our democracy lol
Cette carte à été faite avant les éuropéenes.
Ah merci ça explique pourquoi !
Spain is by definition an imperfect democracy. You don-t vote for people, but for party lists, so all the people in a list are bound to party rule.
That’s how the majority of non-english speaking democracies work.
Some argue that voting for partys that represent ideologies over specific personalities leads to healthier democracy.
yeah, this is gonna need updating
It’s from this year, though.
lol at this india treatment
I feel this image from the link has a clearer colour scheme:
So how are we a full democracy? Our PM wasn’t even elected.
