I can see myself just watching the hamsters run around on the road. Cute. Adds to my mental list of city builders with animals.
- Against the Storm (various animals, roguelike, not playing this myself because of that and its darker atmosphere)
- Timberborn (beavers)
- Whiskerwood (mice, oppressed by cats)
Even beyond having animals 😀, both Against the Storm and Timberborn are pretty unique and compelling city-builder. I would even go as far as saying they have pushed the genre forward.
I know why Against the Storm is unique (roguelike), but curious why Timberborn is unique. The water?
Yeah, the water mechanics and 3D building completely change the gameplay dynamics. You can build elaborate structures and cityscapes with complex water management networks.
It does take a while to build out a city where you have enough resources for such creative endeavours, but that’s part of the fun.
