I’ve heard good things from others so far, anything to be concerned about with them?
From their about page:
It began on Kits Beach in Vancouver, Canada. Three friends launched a mission to create a better way to help people see.
We’ve served over 1 million customers since 2018, proving that premium eyecare can be convenient, fast, and affordable.
KITS offers a rich selection of premium eyecare products: our own KITS brand as well as a large, curated portfolio of designer frames and contacts.
We prioritize our customers above all else. We are obsessed with the quality of our products and your KITS experience.
KITS is vertically integrated, lean and local. This enables us to make premium eyecare affordable, convenient, and fast.
KITS is proudly Canadian - owned and operated. Our modern optical lab in Vancouver is where we craft our lenses and tailor glasses to customer’s prescription.
Isn’t the eyewear industry a huge international monopoly owned by EssilorLuxottica? Like, wherever you buy glasses, they probably all come from that conglomerate anyway.
These guys claim to be crafting their own lenses, so it looks like they’re one of your few options for bypassing that monopoly.
If I understand correctly, they do lenses locally, yes. But frames are from a monopoly.
I’ve purchased a pair of Emporio Armani glasses through them, and a pack of their Kits brand daily contact lenses.
The lenses are nothing special, but they were a decent price and worked just fine. I tend to have a difficult time removing them, but that just might be me.
The glasses are designer brand so that doesn’t speak to their in house brand quality. But they had a good coupon going when I bought them so it ended up being a good price as well.
Overall I would recommend the Kits for the prices, but it probably won’t be the highest quality stuff if you’re going for their own brand.
Bought my last pair from them. Still going strong.
They do feel somewhat cheaply made if you (like me) are money tight and can’t afford the higher end ones. But they haven’t fallen apart on me at all and it’s been about three years now with the same frames.
So for the 120 I paid for them, I’d say I got my money’s worth.
