    I’m sure it has zero to do with the fact that these companies would fire them in an instant if it made the stock price go up 2% for a week. They know that they’re expendable and behave accordingly.

      The word I kept hearing was “promotion,” which struck me as I’ve only ever had one promotion in my career.

      Nearly every new job title I got was because I switched jobs, as were all the biggest increases in income.

      Companies need to realize that loyalty is a two-way street. People will put in the effort if they believe it will pay off.

      It’s amazing that over a quarter century later Office Space is still accurate.
