Trans rights are human rights. It’s that simple to me

Well, here I go again.

There’s a motto: trans rights are human rights

It’s quick, easy to understand, and gets the point across. But I don’t think everyone out there really gets how important the words are, and what they mean.

See, the fight for trans rights is not just for trans people. Neither was/is the fight for gay rights. Nor was the fight for black rights. Or women’s rights.

Every single time we (as humanity) have had to fight for one group’s rights, it’s the same fucking fight. It always has been, and I fear it always will be, but that’s tangential.

Trans rights are essential because it never should have been a question in the first place. Equal protection under the law has no qualifiers, nor should it. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, if a group doesn’t have that fundamental right, shit is broken. There should never, ever, be a time or place where every single one of us can’t expect that all laws apply equally to all people, and that all rights apply to all people.

That’s the war we’re fighting. The current battlefield is around trans rights, but if this battle gets won, there’s still going to be others.

Even if I didn’t love trans people for everything they, as a group, bring to the world, I’d still have to support them because it’s just right. It’s also smart because that which happens to the most vulnerable of us can, and likely will, happen to any of us. But, for real, I love y’all, even the jerks that exist in the trans community, y’all make the world a better place just by being here.

Well if I’m a person I should have rights. It shouldn’t be based on which group of lying slavers has taken control of the government.

I just want my healthcare to not get cancelled at the whims of people who don’t believe I should exist.

I think it’s complete bullshit that religious conservatives get to vote on what medical treatment my insurance covers when these freaks don’t even believe in vaccines. It’s crazy how people can’t mind their own business.

I already know that short of a constitutional amendment my rights are perhaps even being recognized as a person will always be in the wind. 😮‍💨

I think mostly I’m annoyed because I really don’t want to get arrested and then v-coded but I’m also feeling like the way things are going civil disobedience is definitely the answer.

As a trans person, its tiring to see people constantly repeat nonsensical reasons to hate trans people that break logic in at least 2 ways and being rewarded for not thinking about what they are saying

I have yet to see a real argument against trans rights (by real, i dont even mean good or based on science, just one that doesnt crumble the second you think about it)

i just think theyre neat.

It’s a class war, painted as a culture war; a distraction too often followed.

Everyone (should have) has the right to express themselves freely.

The only exception woukd be uncool actions that do harm to others… like the shit conservatives do.

I think it’s none of my business how people want to live their lives, least not because it has absolutely no impact on how I live my life.

How hard is it to not see this.

Trans-people are people. They deserve the same rights, protections, and respect as every other person.

I don’t think anyone in their right mind thinks they should have less rights than anyone else. They’re simply being targeted as a scapegoat, lied about and targeted in an absolutely disgusting manipulation of public opinion such that the right (regardless of county) can have a group to vilify and blame for problems they benefit from.

Look, long before it was even talked about by the mainstream, I was in a very serious relationship with a transfem person for years- so much so that I helped her transition. Despite her having a lot of other issues, anger problems, etc., I was always in support of her identity even after a very messy breakup (after all, being abused by a religious fundamentalist father will mess someone up).

Now that shit has his the fan fifteen years later, I still share my forever support for folks like her. I also hope she’s still alive, given fifteen years as a transfem in Texas is a long time and we fell out of contact ages ago. That’s my perspective and it’s context.

I heard someone use the term flagpole. I’m straight and white but support the (LGBTQ+) flags. It’s not a great term, but it covers my take on trans issues. I’ve also had three trans friends which is not a lot, but it’s more than many.

People who have a problem with trans people are being unreasonable. Unfortunately, a large part of our (mainstream) culture is completely unreasonable. So it’s really difficult to get through to people to tell them that trans people are really just people and should be treated as such. I guess it will take a lot of effort to really get this point across.

I suspect it might take a long time to solve this issue, but it will be solved eventually.
