I am a german currently in the US for work. They can have all the hotdogs for themselves. We don’t want that stuff, this has nothing in common with proper sausages. Not even the shape.
It is a limited resource we dig out of the ground in countries we don’t want to be depending on, because to do it in our own countries is too dirty for us. Then we use this bound energy and convert it into heat we release into the atmosphere. The only thing missing for being technically “fossil” is that it’s originated from organic matter.
Short from that, it definitively classifies as not renewable, not sustainable, dangerous, not climate neutral, expensive, antquiated idea. And in the sense of being an antiquated idea at least, it is “still fossil”.
That is factually incorrect. The oldest reactors still in service are around 60years old and have to be maintained and repaired at high costs as safety relevant parts are heavily deteriorated.
With rising safety measures new plants get more expensive from year to year all the while renewables get cheaper and cheaper in production.
Why is that irrelevant? These plants don’t run forever and are very expensive. You wouldn’t buy a car either that costs 15 million Euro, but in return just uses 1liter of diesel per 100km.
Except that if you calculate the complete cost including building the plants it’s stupendously expensive compared to renewables even including energy storage.
If you’re about donating yes. If you’re about having some short time fun with a (for me) new kind of puzzle to keep flexible in the mind… This is great as it is.
Fuck the idiots that had the idea that the DB should be run like a private profitoriented company. Nurture, embrace, rebuild and improve the DB.
