Have you ever had a passport in your dead name?
Have, yes, up until about three years ago. Natural born US citizen.
My concern is about the coming back into the country after vacation. All the other times we’ve gone through (many, many), it’s been smooth sailing, everyone just hands over the passports, person at the desk matches face with picture (they match), we go home.
Well, yes, but how does that play out in practical terms, at customs and border control on the way back in to the country?

This does not happen very often, I don’t think.
How would this affect someone who’s done top surgery, name change, birth certificate change, all ID changes, and already has a valid passport?
e: Not a rhetorical question, I would like to know.
Firearms for defense are for eliminating an imminent threat. Over a year ago now, I estimated that an imminent threat of some kind was not out of the question. I didn’t know exactly what then, but I could feel it in my bones. I live in a reasonably safe almost rural area; my estimation was based on the political climate. I am sad to say that I am only more certain now that I will need to eliminate an imminent threat at some point.
Although I didn’t know what an imminent threat would look like, I felt it was important to have a firearm then because if you wait until you need a gun, it’s way too late. I wanted to acquire, practice, make sure everything was working properly, practice, take classes, practice, get the right holster, practice, get comfortable, practice, stock up on ammo, and did I mention practice?

I’ll usually see $100, but $150 isn’t insane, especially at a truck stop. It’s just pending, because they don’t actualy process the charge until they close the books later, at which time the actual amount is cross-referenced with the pending amount, the pending amount is canceled, and the actual amount is charged.
