Aaaaand let’s just put it on loop for a bit
I started recently, and my first thought was “this sound track is the derp head of the 3 headed dragon meme”, compared to the 90’s startrek OST
And I wouldn’t change a thing
There would be so many memes never born
Lets just say that the theme song is so bad, that I was burning through every Star Trek show my first time watching. Next Gen-Boom, TOS-POW, Voyager-Ehh OK!, Deep Space Nine-WOAH. Then when I got to Enterprise I had such a visceral reaction to the theme song on the first episode that I never continued the show. Its a very stupid reason I know, but its my reason, and I am going to need a much more compelling reason ever to return.
We need a “Star Wars Despecialized Editon” of Enterprise where the only thing they change is the theme song.
Edit: Alright everyone you talked me into it, my local library has the Enterprise DVDs so I’ll give them a go. And I’ll even listen to the theme song. 🖖
Hard disagree. The opening theme is part of the show. It’s a secret Star Trek call.
A few years back I was waiting for an elevator and randomly the song got stuck in my head. I started to hum/sing the song, quietly, but getting louder as I waited for the elevator. I didn’t notice but another man had also had begun to wait for the elevator. “Is that the Enterprise theme?” He asked? And we shared a conversation about a show each of us had watched 20+ years ago.
You gotta watch with the theme song.
I mean… the fast forward button does exist.
Yeah I know. It’s definitely a me problem. I’m sure one day I’ll come around.
It’s been a long time after all…maybe my time is finally here.
We need a “Star Wars Despecialized Editon” of Enterprise where the only thing they change is the theme song.
If it helps at all, this was originally supposed to be U2’s “Beautiful Day”, but they couldn’t get the rights to use it. It’s still an abrupt shift in sytle and tone, but it fits the intro really well.
Holy shit I’m suddenly glad it was the weird country music thing
I had a similar reaction. But I’m almost done Season 4 and it’s a great show. And the theme song is stuck in my head, just like it was while binging the other shows. Odd.
I liked it when it first came out and now. That base line bullshit they added in S3 on the other hand…
When Enterprise was new, it seemed like they did a lot to distance it from the rest of Star Trek. Maybe they were trying to attract non-trekkies or something? Whatever the case, they didn’t advertise it as “Star Trek: Enterprise”. Just “Enterprise” (until later seasons.) The commercials/teasers left it easy to wonder if it was Star Trek or not, at least for people who didn’t watch it. And the credits music is just another example of a departure from the rest of Trek.
I still feel the Perfect Strangers theme fits better.
Yea, but every once in a while it changes to this which is a welcome change I guess.
I saw someone on Lemmy here recently say that the reason Enterprise has Faith of the Heart as a theme song is just a set up so the suddenly change to that mirror intro theme hits harder. As much as I love Faith of the Heart… yeah. I can see it.
That opening always gives me chills. Seeing ‘Starfleet’ vessels on a warpath, attacking iindiscriminately and doing bombing runs on cities… Fuck.
There are moments when I wish I could upvote more than once, oh wait …
The hidden ds9 voiceover is the best one.
The what?
its my joke thing. Space: the final frontier. These are the rotations of the spacestation 9. Its continuing mission: to await vistors from strange new worlds; to be sought out by new life and new civilizations; to boldly stay where no one has stayed before!
It’s narrated by Morn.
It’ll grow on her.
There’s a great series on Netflix right now called “Heartbeat” or “Poisened Heart” or something (depends on language), and it’s a grizzly drama about murder, Organ harvesting, and a web of underworld seediness, revenge, wrath, high stakes drama etc…
It’s opening theme song is some weak ass “everybody needs good Neighhhbours” type thing that makes no sense whatsoever tonally to the show.
But, but… the contrast of the theme song to the show content is so large that it actually makes the show’s drama look good.
My friend, what cursed mashup of Neighbours and Heartbeat are you watching?
Neighbours https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0088580/
Heartbeat https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0101114/
doo-doo dododo, doo-doo dododo
Great Buddy Holly song cover. But no, I’m talking about this series, called Palpito in Spanish:
It was a very controversial choice at the time too. It’s kind of funny how the internet has cooled off on the intro, in some cases even warmed up to it, but back in the day it got such a spicy reception.
I want to state for the record that my rejection of that
songsorry effort, has never decreased, not even a tiny bit.I didnt care for it at first. It was a long road getting from there to here. It was a long time. But the song’s time is finally here. You’re not going to hold it down no more. You’re not going to hold it down.
Don’t break my heart, my achy spacey heart
🤣
It’s still the worst Star Trek Intro by far, and it sticks out as a sore thumb.
I definitely had the Enterprise/Faith of the Heart intro as the most discordant and off-putting combination I’ve been subjected too…
Until I started trying to watch Britannia. You’d be watching ancient Roman soldiers talking or swording it out with Celtic Britons and scarified druids against backdrops of mud daubed huts, thick untouched forests, primitive villages etc, and suddenly…you’d be hearing this upbeat folksy 1960s Beatles-like The Hurdy Gurdy Man.
And then you’d go straight back to the ancient Roman soldiers, druids, swords and Celtic style clothing and background.
This is a good example of that discordant transition https://youtube.com/watch?v=GNG9EU8eZj0
