Looks amazing…although probably not quite what the Welsh mean by “Returning to My Trees”

If that’s camping then walking to the shops and back is hiking.

That’s just renting a lodge but the lodge owners are too cheap to build a proper structure.

        All things back-country camping!

        https://sh.itjust.works/c/camping

There’s nothing back country about this, or really even camping. It’s on a wooden deck ffs, it’s a permanent structure.

It’s a nice picture and looks to be a nice holiday, but it isn’t camping and I don’t think in the spirit of the community.

And that’s a fair take but there are better ways to share that opinion than snark and insults. You can downvote, you can report it as off topic or breaking community rules or you could have even posted this comment originally instead of what you did.

The thing is though, glamping is both more accessible to people with disabilities that prevent them from hiking deep into the woods, putting up a tent, laying on the ground etc. and also exposes camping and outdoors activities to people who might otherwise not get engaged.

At the end of the day you’re on a social network site where the whole point is community engagement and this post is engaging to the community.

That’s fair. I’ll admit I was a bit of a dick. It was 3am and I was dying from allergies so probably shouldn’t have been posting whilst cranky.

            Apologies OP!

The wooden deck is a weird element to bring into it. In the US decks are sometimes there for conservancy reasons. They’re present along parts of the Appalachian trail.

I might instead draw the line based on whether members of your party are putting it up and taking it down as part of the trip.

But I could also see electricity being a reasonable dividing line. Like a cabin several miles from where you can get a motorized vehicle might be more camping than a tent in your backyard that you ran an extension cord and a TV out to.

I’m ok with others drawing lines elsewhere though.

Yeah I was a knob, sorry.

I still don’t think it’s really relevant to the community but I could have phrased that better, and tbh there’s probably not a glamping community of any size worth posting to so I can understand why you posted here.
