Just months after revealing there’d be no more Stardew Valley updates until Haunted Chocolatier released, creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has confirmed that another update is coming to the fan-favourite farming sim.
As posted to TikTok by jillbobagginz (thanks, FRVR), Barone said: “After that [last 1.6] update, I was thinking, ‘I don’t know if I’m going to make another update’. But I wanted to share something with you tonight, it’s kind of a secret… there’s going to be another update.”
Pretty much the absolute bare minimum amount of information but still exciting to me, getting a 1.7 update from the sounds of things

I wouldn’t call providing updates for an £11 game at no extra cost “milking”.
stardew makes most of their money from merch sales not game sales, so having more ppl playing the game again and the good press probably makes more money for them than making a paid dlc actually would. but idk if i’d call it milking either
i’m just having a hard time giving it the benefit of the doubt when the other stardew thing that happened recently was a collab with a gacha game
Idk I just can’t find it in me to be upset about a guy making an update to his passion project
Yeah I think this is more of “Passionate artist doesn’t know how to put down the brush and move on”
