Awesome things about libro that I like

  • No DRM. You can download the books as you please and store them outside the app!
  • Credits don’t expire, and can be gifted.
  • You can support your local bookstore if they are on the app.
  • There’s also occasional free audiobooks that the libro.fm drops. For Juneteenth there was a few that they gave out for free.

Head over https://libro.fm/indies and enter your location for the closet bookstore to you. If there isn’t one or if you don’t see one you like, there’s also online stores as well. I like how they have tags like, API owned, LGBT owned, etc etc

I have a bunch of places if you ever need any info on keeping up to date on new titles haha

Also I know you were probably joking, but there is an extremely high demand for large print and accessible books. Most of them tend to be consolidated on amazon right now. Having a dedicated online indie bookselling storefront (with accessible navigation) for large print and accessible book tools would probably become extremely profitable very quickly, especially from people trying to avoid amazon.

          • @gabe I’d love that! Can you email me the giant list of resources? If I can do it, I’d rather not do any shipping, at all, myself, or inventory, like, I’d want it to be a very very passive thing! My literary agent is already side eyeing me because I’m playing in the Fedi rather than meeting my deadlines. LMAO! I wanted to possibly have a bookshop store for print books but then a Libro FM store that highlighted books with Disabled characters across multiple genres. I just launched a new website, and am now seriously thinking about large print titles and otherwise, but I’m sure Bookshop has large print titles. We can download digital Braille files from a number of our Disabled libraries, but still, now you got me thinking so can you email me? https://robertkingett.com/contact/
