    I’d handle that situation the same way I handle compliments, say thank you and pretend like nothing happened, just stare blankly at the person and move on to the first unrelated thing that comes to mind.

      I responded the same way each time.

      “Oh, let me update your contact entry in my phone real quick.”

      Then we go back to what we were doing.
