It is coming because there finally is competition and options! What a doomer title!

Both inzoi and paralives are in early access, Sims 4 fully launched in a worse state than inZoi currently is.

About the AI thing in inZoi, people cannot write down the game because of that and then play The Sims like EA didn’t just say they’ll be investing in AI for games as well and selling out to Saudi Arabia. Pick your battles but be coherent about it.

The games aren’t finished but the only thing stopping you from playing them whenever they are is yourself. There won’t be a sims 5 and 4 really isn’t holding up as well as it should.

And anyways it’s not a one horse race, you can play all of them, a new life sim doesn’t have to reign supreme and kill The Sims, that’s unlikely even from a consumer awareness point of view. The wonderful revolution is that we finally have options, after years of monopoly and scam games that never came out.

I definitely agree with you that competitors existing and being playable, even unfinished, is still hope-giving, and appreciate you giving that perspective. Lemmy really does tend a bit more towards a doomer mindset, which is one of the few Lemmy hivemind qualities that I don’t fit in with very well or like, lol

I figure the Sims thing is because AI isn’t currently in Sims 4 at all. The AI haters (sorry but I’m one too) will not play a future game with AI, but an AI-free game is fair game, especially if they started liking and playing before the “investing in games with AI” news came out. Also, a lot of Sims players I know don’t even know EA is investing in AI because they don’t follow gaming industry headlines. I just found out from your comment!
