It’s almost as old as me. But I guess, children wouldn’t watch Aria (as seinen), wouldn’t they.

I didn’t know about slice of life and iyashikei until I was much older, so I don’t know if I would have liked it back then. I have the feeling I would not have been able to appreciate it as much when I was younger. It might take getting beat up by life a little bit in order to get it.

I hadn’t thought about it, but it looks like you’ve hit the nail on the head xD. But still I think children (or rather teenager) are able to like it, just on another level. Gochiusa (later k-on etc.) became my the most beloved anime after half a year I started watch anime at the age of 15. Idk, it’s earlier then in average or it’s as usual…? According to some discs I found, example, audience is mixed, I am going to ask fediverse users simmilar question a bit later.

I think teenagers can enjoy it too but it is less likely. 15 is probably a bit younger than average. I think K-ON! in particular might have a younger audience on average in Japan because of its popularity with girls.

Really? Sounds like “Cute girls watching Cute girls doing cute things”.
