Just because every board in the USA is a front for your friends, doesn’t mean that the rest of the world is as corrupt as you. Apparently, that’s a hard concept for him to grasp.

I have incredibly low expectations for Trump, but virtually every day he somehow still astonishes me with his idiocy.

But, what’s a lot more disturbing is that nobody in this administration is trying to keep him out of the spotlight.

It was awful that when Biden’s team realized he was losing his mental faculties, they kept it under wraps and tried to act like everything was normal. But, at least they realized that he wasn’t normal, and that the world wouldn’t have confidence if the US president was in visible cognitive decline. Normally when an elder gets dementia, you take away the car keys. But here they’re letting Trump drive, and they’re sitting in the car with him as he drives down the sidewalk, and they’re grinning, acting like everything is normal.

The only slight hint of normality here is that he’s apparently taken a lot of cognitive exams lately. That’s not normal, so someone must be convincing him that it’s necessary, and actually managing to get him to repeatedly take that test. Maybe it actually will reach a point where he fails the cognitive test badly enough that they take away the keys. Then again, with MAGA if he orders the US to nuke Greenland, there’s a pretty decent chance they’ll do it rather than risk what could happen if they question his orders.

What’s funny is the only meaningful reason to administer multiple cognitive tests over this time period is to systematically track changes in cognitive performance over time.

Why would a doctor need to monitor this? Because observing changes across repeated assessments helps determine whether cognitive function is stable, improving, or declining, and whether any intervention, treatment, or further investigation is warranted.

Repeated cognitive tests should not be interpreted as proof that Trump has great cognitive performance. What they usually mean is that a doctor is paying closer attention and keeping an eye on things over time, because they have identified some uncertainty, risk factor, or possible concern that they want to monitor, and not because everything is obviously fine, no issues, nothing to see here folks.

Yeah, exactly. If you have a cognitive test and everything is as expected, they’re not going to schedule another one just for fun. And, while you could have a second one to show that things are improving… improving from what? What cognitive impairment was there where he was expected to show improvement? There’s no way to spin having multiple cognitive tests as a good thing, regardless of how he performed on them.

It is meant to be astonishing you so you think he is inkompetent and therefore not dangerous while he signs implements from the heart of republikan far right extremist agenda into law. He is dangerous. There is a very good reason that historically we have preferred intelligent well spoken heads of state, even when those haven’t the sole responsibility to lead

It’s projection. He believes because he’s President of the US, he can make any American organization, public or private, do what he wants, and he’s had moderate success with that. So now he believes all countries operate like that, and any claim otherwise is a lie meant to protect that power.

It’s a classic characteristic of narcissists. They are physically incapable of understanding that people can think differently from then, and that things can work differently than they believe.

If the question is “Is Trump aware of X” or “Does Trump know X”, then the most meaningful answer is always “no”. Even if Trump did know things, it would not matter, because Trump’s behavior is purely based on gut feeling, mood, and random outside influences.

Whenever he wants to invade a country, start a war or talk about tariffs. Someone should show him a map and if he can point to the relevant country with his fat fingers he can do it.

The world would be more peaceful and he can continue to make the people suffer who actually want a big fat toddler as their leader.

I hate that MAGA will just blindly parrot whatever absolute nonsense he says. I really wish he’d just get super absurd so we could at least laugh about it… Like claim that the moon people actually have the Epstein documents or something. I want to hear MAGA seriously argue that people on the moon are hiding Epsteins files because Trump just said it.

MAGA is (mostly) neither hearing nor repeating this shit. Some have gone quiet in the face of the overwhelming bullshit, the rest post typical lib bashing memes on FB and X. The only people repeating Trump’s actual talking points are right-wing influencers and politicians. Notice how those posts are in lock-step? They’re getting orders/clues from somewhere.

I’ll never apologize for them, nor ever forget who they are\were, but you’re giving the man-on-the-street way too much credit as to knowing what all Trump is speaking about.

For example, my flag-flying MAGA neighbor likely doesn’t know about any of this month’s events, except in vague terms, stuff he saw on FB, from the aforementioned influencers.

Maybe I’m nitpicking? Anyway, there’s a wide gulf between “official” MAGA and the asshole on the corner.

I suppose that’s more than likely true. I have the unfortunate circumstance of having my father be OBSESSED with the Fox News drama show. He’s always up to date on exactly what they tell him to believe so I guess I assume more people are like him than maybe really are.

Thankfully I don’t live with him or talk to him very often or I’d go insane…

The Nobel Committee is appointed by the government and mostly consists of retired politicians, so the lines are a little blurred.

Also not the first time someone blames Norway for something the Nobel Committee did. China was butthurt for a decade after Liu Xiaobo got the prize, and removed visa waivers for Norwegian citizens as well as restrict trade.

I think the Nobel Committee should announce that they are making a special exception and are going to award a second peace prize this year, in recognition of the extraordinary achievements of the US president. Then give the award to Obama.
