The last Ice Age was quite cool, beside the pun it also left humans as a dominant species, which I just find neat.

I also enjoy the Pompeii disaster, because of the plot from the excavation efforts. People encased masturbating, well preserved architecture, dramatic contemporary documentation, all on top of the technological marvel and jewel-of-the-empire city of Pompeii!
