not really a technology per se, but i’m really in awe of the people doing decompilations of older games now, and i kinda wish i had the knowledge (and time) to contribute
There are technologies that do advance game preservation such as cartridge dumpers, homebrew that allows the dumping of disk based games, modchips, etc
I’m pretty excited for most technical advances up until the “influencers” decide to try and make it their golden goose.
