As a child, I lied about my age to get past “we can’t show you this/you can’t make an account” restrictions.
As an adult, I find myself clicking “I’m a kid” on fandom.com because it probably means they won’t hit me with as many trackers or ads, something something I forget COPPA. (Yes, I know I should probably get some kind of script-blocking thing instead.)
If it’s asking whether you’re a kid, it’s probably to comply with some “think of the children” law.
