I feel like most people just default their way to Lemmy if they’ve even found their way to the fediverse in the first place. It’s too bad Kbin.social went down the way it did, I feel like the bin momentum kinda disappeared after that. How do we get more people to use and host Mbin instances? Is this desirable?
I started with kbin, and will use mbin more when there’s better mobile app support.
Sorry for hijacking, but what actually happened to Kbin? Did admins just abandon it? Was there any kind of explanation?
The admin killed it because he had a lot going on in his life (in a negative way) and he didn’t want anyone else to have admin privileges over it.
I don’t know what Mbin is. Educating people is likely a good first step.
It’s a fork of kbin.
Mbin is a content aggregator that attempts to combine elements of both forum style browsing like what we have here, and microblogging like what mastodon does.
In my opinion, the experience isn’t very cohesive or seamless like it could be.
Still check it out if you’re interested though, it’s a good project.
