How is everyone feeling about the map rework?
Definitely feels like the biggest change the game has seen since it opened up with it leaning closer to a MOBA now.
I’ve been busy so only played 3 games and not quite sure how I feel yet with that small a sample size. I do feel like split pushing is much harder but haven’t had a game as wraith yet tho to test that out since I’m primarily playing support Ivy.
I do think long term it’s probably going to make it easier for new players to get the hang of things:
-
Less lanes means less objectives to think about and they put jungle/farm in a lot more open obvious spots so it’s not as hard to find for them.
-
Everyone in duo lanes means it’s less likely they get just absolutely stomped during laning.
That’s probably good for getting new players but we’ll have to see once the game is officially released.
I do hope they keep the team size at six. They could theoretically get one solo lane like in other mobas by going down to 5, but I don’t want that.
I’d rather have them bring 4 lanes back.

There’s a lot of… map in between the lanes that can make for some interesting gameplay, but I’ve not had a chance to truly explore and come up with routes yet.
There are also a bunch of new buldings you have to actually go around. The old map allowed you get around in something close to a straight line going in almost any direction.
Blue especially is now much more “walled in”.
In fact the sidelanes also have some new bulding structures making them narrower, especially around the walkers.
I have played, a TON.
I really like that the map feels more like a city, now. There’s actual side-streets that are completely enclosed and make for some interesting 1v1 situtations, and bigger fights.
The hightened complexity has also made juking, vertical movement, as well as travel across rooftops, more viable.
You also can’t get from the sidelanes to the midlane as fast, anymore. The four-lane map had everything feeling “close”, now you can actually get far enough from a zipline that you have to/can think about travel times a bit, both in terms preparedness, and opportunities for attack.
The midlane is now the most dangerous, in a way, because the sidelanes have the teleports that make them work as if they are right next to each other, while going from midlane to one of the sidelanes or vice-versa, can’t be done quickly. Meaning midlane is now the most “isolated” in terms of how fast a neighbouring lane can reinforce you.
I like the increased number of denizen camps, too.
