    Honestly?

    Under normal situations, it doesn’t.

I’ve been stabbed twice. Once, in my upper arm. Didn’t hear a thing

I’ve been present when people have been stabbed, and any sound it makes gets swallowed up by grunts and the sounds of violence.

But! If you ever get a chance, you can actually hear it anyway. Just get some pork belly, set it up on some styrofoam for a backing so you don’t screw up the knife, or screw up your hand. If you want to get real frisky, lay a piece of leather over it. Tape it all down and stab your flesh analogue.

Most likely, it will sound like you’re punching meat. It’ll be a slap, maybe an extra meaty slap.

The exception would be if you’re stabbing with something unusual, or just poorly maintained. Something like a decent knife with a point, an icepick, even a pencil, it slides in as deep as it’s going to go, and the only noises made are like slicing meat. Really quiet, in other words.

But, if you’re using something like a screwdriver that’s less sharp, or something with heavy serrations, you can get a little louder, maybe a popping sound.

But, even that tends to be so fast that what you actually hear is when hand slaps the surface.

Obviously, if the target has some clothes added on top, you won’t even hear that.

Now, when someone gets stabbed in some locations, you might hear other noises. A lung puncture can cause some bubbling or gurgling sounds after, but that’s a different thing.

Tbh, the only way you’d hear the actual stab in a serious situation is if someone was sneaking up on someone and stabbed them in the throat, and there was minimum background noise.

But that slap as the hilt or a hand meets uncovered skin? It sounds like a regular punch, and feels like it too, though an unusually focused punch. Well, I didn’t get stabbed deep in my arm, and it felt like I got punched, and I knew the guy had a knife. The other one, I didn’t even feel at all.

Other people have described it the same way too though.

Seriously, it is really easy to find out what various attacks look and sound like. You buy some meat, you whack it with things, you have a barbecue :)
