Trying to improve my English. This is the Cambridge Dictionary and I would like to know what the ‘(C or U)’ next to B1 means. Is it something important to master the English language? Thank you for your answers.

[C] Countable noun: a noun that has a plural.
[U] Uncountable or singular noun: a noun that has no plural.
Thank you.
American English speaker. No idea what that means. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/benefit
Apparently, it means countable and uncountable.
