Civil disobedience, strikes, direct action, have all involved some forms of violence (be it so-called vandalism, or direct confrontation between groups). Many in reaction to violence by the state or corporations (Battle of Blair Mountain!). Thinking we will achieve far-reaching goals without resorting to some sort of radical actions is ludicrous.
