  • Not really. They do have an annoying reminder about creating an account (which I wish they’d not show every single article I read), but it hasn’t been put behind anything. You just click the not now button and it leaves you alone until you go to a different article or refresh the page

I do see your point, though. It’s annoying, and they’ve also implemented it in a way where it can’t just be removed by nuking the element in uBlock, which arguably makes it annoying than those “sign up for our newsletter!!!” demands that pop up on shopping websites, since they’re fairly easily removed. But they do decent quality journalism, so I’m not entirely pissed about it. But there is a reason I primarily read the abc

  • Got a phishing message impersonating auspost coming from the democratic republic of the Congo

Found it funny because when something that seems like it should be Australian wasn’t, my mum would always say something like “what do you mean the milk is only 93% Australian? Where’s the rest of it coming from? The bloody Congo?”

I also had one come from Yemen a few weeks ago. That was a funny one.

Anywho I cracked into my study today. I’ve got the knowledge to complete my first assessment now, I’m about 75% done, probably got about an hour left on it. I don’t know about the others because I haven’t started them yet, but I’ve got another 3 weeks to do those. Although we start on the next unit tomorrow, so I don’t want to get left behind. They look to be longer than the first one, and one of them is a case study, the other a research report. So the one I’m working on now is probably the easiest of the lot (just basic written questions)

  • I couldn’t get to sleep last night. Melatonin was no help. I was so tired I couldn’t open my eyes, but I just couldn’t sleep.

Then when I did get to sleep, I had another bad dream. This one didn’t involve death like the last few, but I got really angry in my dream and broke everything in my path and hurt a lot of people. I hate those kinds of dreams, because they feel so realistic while I’m in them and then about half way through the dream I realise I’ve mega screwed up and then end up dealing with the fallout while I’m still dreaming. And then after I wake up it’s a combination of relief that I’m not rotting away in a dingey jail cell somewhere, but also terrifying because it makes me wonder if I am actually capable of hurting people irl

And then after I woke up I realised I’d slept in until 1pm. But in my defence, the watch tells me I was tossing and turning until 5:30

  • Yesterday was new water bottle day. This time I got one off ScAmazon. I’m sure this one will last 7 months like all the rest before cracking the shits and breaking, making me crack the shits and put it in the bin

Also, YIL that Amazon gives away free GOG/epic keys with a prime subscription. To keep forever I think. Shame about prime (the streaming part) being so garbage. I found the mixed messaging they do where some movies are part of your subscription, and then others they try to sting you 30 bucks for to be really annoying and just gave up on it as a result. Almost cancelled when they started putting ads into the 3 whole movies they actually have on it, but forgot to so never did

  • Respectfully, I doubt you’ll hear back if your complaint was “lodged” with a staff member. Having worked at a fast food chain, that was probably a lie to get you out of the store so they can go meet their stocking/packing/other duty quotas. Not necessarily out of malice, but low level employees, and possibly even the store manager don’t have any control over what’s put on the signs.

Not saying you’re wrong, it’s deffo unethical and illegal to lie about the country of origin and deserves a complaint to the ACCC (even if they are quite the toothless little tiger), but your best option is probably a combination of the ACCC and contacting woolies HQ directly.

(and I don’t know if Woolies works on a franchise model or not, but if they do, contacting the franchisee would probably be the most effective option, since they’re the ones who are going to cop the fine, and it would also likely sting them more than a fine to woolies directly)
