Are we starting to understand yet why it was a horrible idea to give the Federal Government so much power over literally everything? It’s precisely why the framers of the Constitution tried so hard to limit what the Federal Government could control and its why the “States Rights” argument has always rung true.

I hope California is successful in their efforts to “Conservative Proof” their State. What they are attempting to do flies in the face of nearly 140 years of precedent but its EXACTLY how this damn country was intended to work.

The left DOES show up…but here’s the thing…there’s not enough of them to make a difference. I know it FEELS like leftism and even progressivism is super duper popular because its omnipresent on the internet but in the real world there just aren’t enough of them to matter for national elections outside of a few specific places.

It’s like relying on an 8 year old to help you move furniture. You quickly realize that they just aren’t strong enough to do much.

As the father of a Gen Z Son whose almost done with a degree in Chemical Engineering I can confidently say that you are wrong. There’s large numbers of intelligent, educated, and caring young men out there and it’s been my privilege to watch quite a few of them grow up.

As a man over 50 I’m going to point out that if everywhere you go smells like shit then you need to check your shoes.

It’s how we’ve reacted to their aggression so far.

The United States really does not want to get into a direct conflict with Russia. There’s no question that we’d win any kind of conventional conflict but the American people have no desire for another land war in Europe. We’ve been there and done that, twice, and while I think we would support our European cousins for a 3rd go around getting support for it would require that the Europeans commit themselves first.

On a tangent but speaking frankly Europe as a whole needs to plan for dwindling support from the United States. Regardless of who wins the 2024 US elections the voting demographics of the United States are changing fast. There are literally tens of millions of current and near future immigrants from all over the world who will never care about European security as much as the current voters do. Why would they? Why should they?

The average immigrant from Asia or Latin America will not have ancestral ties to Europe and as their impact on US politics grows it’s inevitable that US support for European shenanigans will dwindle. As voters they will push the US Government to care far more about what’s happening in India, Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, and various countries on the African continent.

This is going to happen even if the United States elects nothing but Progressive Politicians for the next 10 election cycles and Europe needs to prepare for it.

Homes are wildly unaffordable for nearly everybody! In the last decade literally hundreds of homes have been built in my town that sell for over $500,000. I want to know who the hell is buying them and how the hell they are affording them!

I have no idea how my son, who is 24, is going to buy a home of his own and at this point I’m wondering if I should sell my current place for a compound with enough space that I can turn into a multi-generational place so I can leave it to him and his family when my wife and I die.

This type of nonsense is happening everywhere online. Real people who are organically participating will almost always engage on a wide variety of topics and issues; any social media account on any network that spends the majority of it’s time focused on a single politicized issue or viewpoint can be assumed to be a sock puppet or a shill.

In short any account that hyper-focus on a single issue or viewpoint for more than a day or two is likely not organic and if it is organic then it’s likely toxic; either way you should avoid them.

If they show up I hand out the candy and I’ve been doing it that way for decades. No telling some kid or teens situation in life and there’s no need in making it harder on them.

Its happening with increasing regularity even in the lower 48. Here’s one from Wyoming.

I dunno where that map is from but it’s wrong. Moose range extends as far south as Wyoming and I know they have them in Colorado as well. Not just the occasional sighting either, they have hunting seasons for Moose.

I’d imagine there’s a few reasons for the variation in driver training between upstate NY and Wyoming.

1. Road Speed. Here in Wyoming our highways are 65-70MPH (posted) and most of the Interstate is posted at 80MPH. You can generally figure that everyone is doing at least 5MPH over that. The higher the speed the less time you have to react and the harder it is to lightly twitch a vehicle to one side or the other.
2. Road layout. You commented about swerving into the shoulder but most of our highways have a shoulder width of 48" or less and on the other side of the shoulder there’s commonly a ditch. It has to do with the wind and snow we get here but if you twitch onto the shoulder here you are likely to encounter a very unwelcome surprise.
3. Animal differences. In upstate New York you’re dodging Whitetail deer, here you’re trying to dodge Antelope (which are nearly as fast your car) Mule deer, Elk, Black bear, Brown Bear, and the occasional Moose. The bigger the animal the harder it is to dodge.

The way you describe upstate NY is how it was taught to me when I grew up in Nebraska but it’s not what they advise in Wyoming. Here you stay in your lane and slow down as much as you can before impact.

Sure and living in Wyoming I’ve seen that happen often enough right in front of me but the more I watch this video the more I want to know how that deer GOT there.

I can see a small shrub in the dark off the (right) side of the road but somehow you can’t see the deer enter the lane from either the right or left. The car in front of the Tesla is maybe 40 feet past the deer at the start of the video (watch the reflector posts) but somehow that car had no reaction to the deer standing in the middle of the lane?!

Is there a longer video anywhere? Looking closely I have to wonder where the hell did that deer come from?

I have the same question. If you watch the video closely the deer is located a few feet before the 2nd reflector post you see at the start of the video. At that point in time the car in front is maybe 20’ beyond the post which means they should have encountered the deer within the last 30-40 feet but there was no reaction visible.

You can also see both the left and right sides of the road at the reflector well before the deer is visible, you can even make out a small shrub off the road on the right, and but somehow can’t see the deer enter the road from either side?!

It’s like the thing just teleported into the middle of the lane.

The more I watch this the more suspicious I am that the video was edited.
