3·3 days agoI really subscribe to the idea of the kid helping on bills + a little extra and the parent saving as much as they financially can of that into an account and giving it to their kid as a moving away gift.
But yes, I think you are more talking about having the kid pay market price to live at home which is fucked.
2·7 days agoIt was a very sad day when I learned that my dental insurance is a reverse deductible. Like you said, they only pay out $2k a year then it’s all out of pocket. Actually so stupid.
I don’t think it was that uncommon for a boomer dad to never change a diaper. One of my friends dad was bragging about it and my own dad was a little surprised to see me change one. Luxury of a single income supporting a middle class family of 4 I guess.
5·11 days agoI just watched Hot Tub Time Machine for the first time the other day. The ending is incredibly messed up. They come back and stuff is different but they don’t have memory of the last 20 years? They just overwrote the new timeline versions of themselves. And Rob Corddry isn’t even sad about it, he’s basically like screw those guys that I’ve built my life around I got my messed up friends back.
The rest of the movie is pretty good though.
I probably wouldn’t do any overnight stays on a ship.

Speaking of Harris’s Hawks, what a stupid name. So awkward to say. I really want them to change them to Baywing Hawks, so much cooler and at least slightly descriptive.
46·14 days agoThis isn’t even stand your ground or castle doctrine or anything. The homeowner wasn’t even home and they were outside the front gate when shot. That’s the craziest part to me, absolutely no one was in danger until the dude showed up.
If the game is actually good there will almost always be another Kickstarter later if it doesn’t go retail, but it could be years. Except for CMON games which are based on FOMO, those do not come back and retail can be significantly worse.

Animal emotions is a hugely debated and studied topic, at least it was 10 years ago. It was a grave sin to anthropomorphize animals that have not been properly studied when I was in school. That comment is probably a tongue in cheek comment on that
If you are looking for a companion, definitely. If you are looking for an animal bred for a specific purpose, find a reputable breeder.
4·27 days agoI do not have anxiety and Anxiety gave me anxiety. It’s no worse than an average episode of the office though. I thought it was good though and will be watching it again soonish.

48·1 month agoI once told my boss that I could quit if I won a million dollars and lived off of 5% interest. He said no you couldn’t, think about car payments, house, all expenses, $50k a year wouldn’t cover that. Then I reminded him that $50k was more than I was currently making, by kind of a lot. He shut up very quickly lol.
There was a librarian who saved his whole life and when he passed donated I think 1 million dollars to his old university. That university then spent the money on a new score board for the football field. I bet if he saw that he would have wished he put some stipulations on his donation.
