  • Of course I would prefer if the majority of our political representatives acted ethically. We wouldn’t be in this situation if that was the case. But the Republicans are compromised, effectively useless in this situation and too many dems are passive to a fault (though overall still doing a much better job at working towards progress). This is already against the rights of non-citizens per the Constitution. And a judge ordered them to bring him back and they defied the courts, so what laws would need to be passed to have any actual impact on this (which already occurred in the past anyway)?

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and pushing back against a tyrannical machine will require more than begging Republicans to find their morality and respect the rights of others. And if you don’t think this is important for the rest of the citizens back home, you’re missing the point. When one group’s rights are violated, all of our rights are at risk. I don’t need to be threatened directly to understand the gravity of the situation and support the efforts any representatives are taking to try to resolve this. Others will wait until it directly becomes a problem for them in their personal life, but that latency is one of the critical factors that brought us under the shadow of this new administration in the first place.

Yesterday we find out the senator met with him. Today we find out he’s released from CECOT. Even Fox news was pressuring the AG to admit that they had no proof of any criminal record. This is why I applaud the senator for directly intervening in this mess.

  • Look at the price of the NES when it launched. $180. Then you had games averaging about $40 in price, up to $60. Adjust for inflation, development expenses, and the fact that games offer many more hours of replay these days…it’s not priced that badly. Relative to Steam it will look high, but PC games change pricing to grab different customer groups that wouldn’t ever buy the game otherwise as a last-ditch attempt to find revenue.

  • I am not sure. I want to keep the signal clean for live playing (avoiding interference, ground loop buzz, etc). I don’t need studio level noise reduction but also I want to maintain signal fidelity to a reasonable degree so that there’s no tone bottlenecks in my already expensive rig. Because I am an audiophile I am okay investing within reason to avoid unnecessary harmonic loss.

Part of my motivation for this splitter was that it had direct pass through on one out and a ground lift switch on the other two. I want more control over my output just in case the FOH hardware has something funky happening. I know Y-cables are another option but I got the splitter used for a lower price than Y so it was a no brainier. Getting/modding a second one is the next consideration.

  • Speaking from experience, Zooz products have been very poor quality for me and not worth the trouble. I put those switches all throughout my house and now I’m having to replace them, one by one, to due to random failures or unreliable performance. I used a Zooz switch for an outdoor outlet (switch was indoors) and the thing stopped working but support wouldn’t do anything because it’s not a light, it’s going to an outlet. I supported them during their initial product launch, warrantied a lot of switches which helped their R&D, but customer support has 0 sympathy for me now that the warranty is over (they even disregarded the extended warranty they promised me). After all the work I’ve had to do tearing my outlets apart to replace their switches, it’s just not worth it. I wish I would’ve gone with a more expensive brand the first time, I would have saved a lot. If it’s not too late, I recommend looking beyond them.
