“History will not be kind to us”
I mean, the US also supported the Guatemalan genocide and appartheid South Africa, yet nobody gives a crap.

If you want something manufactured in a country that isn’t commiting human rights violations then you are not going to find it (not even the US, which is also funding a genocide right now)
Telling him anythin is not yanking the chain. As long as the US keeps supplying him with weapons and money he knows he can keep doing what he wants.
How is Biden yanking the chain?
He hasn’t done anything to stop the funding and the sales of weapons.
Who voted that government in?
I don’t like this, because one of the most used arguments in favor of capitalism is supposedly the free market and how you are allowed to make money doing what you like. If now it turns out that only a few things are classified as jobs then… where are the benefits of capitalism?
I live in a Latin American country and Facebook is still massive here, even among young people, there is just no way to escape it.
As an amateur artist, mastodon is really not friendly to newcomers like me.
I had to figure out what an instance was and pick one (I chose mastodon.art since I was interested in that)
After wondering why I couldn’t find other people’s accounts, it turned out that I shouldn’t have picked that instance because it had defederated from almost anyone else.
So now I had to create another account in another instance, which turned out to be so full my posts were not getting any traction.
With Bluesky I just created an account and I immediately gained a few followers
It is just not worth the hastle.
I think the problem with posts like this is that they are biased to the US. In real life, Facebook is still widely used outside the US, Twitter still has the majority of users and Instagram and Snapchat are used bye everyone.
Now watch as all the corporations that paused their advertising slowly return to the platform.
Cool.
Biden is not in favour of any of that.
Socialism is still very demonized in American politics. Try to get into a position of power while describing yourself as a socialist (and I mean an actual socialist eg. ending the Cuban embargo, supporting left-wing movements across the world and advocating for the end of capitalism).
Also neither Bernie nor any democratic politician is a actually socialist, they are still very capitalist. At best they are for "capitalism with a human face)
And all of that is a consequence of demonizing and extinguishing all the left-wing movements in the US. And the democratic party is complicit in that.
It certainly says something about the average american that they are more willing to tolerate a fascist than a socialist.
“He might lose some pro-palestinian voters but gain some pro-israel moderates”
This is the main problem with the democratic party. They are always tryign to please the far-right, but they are unwilling to compromise with the far-left
When it comes to racism, that still doesn’t change the fact that the west has a terrible history of it. There is a reason why you see the AK-47 in a few African flags.
How is the west treating Africans and Palestinians right now?
And again, they have also no problem dealing with (and in some cases supporting) African authoritarian regimes. So how are they morally superior to Russia in that regard?
You need to research about African decolonization movements back in the 60’s.
When African countries declared themselves independent they mostly got support from the USSR, while the US and the west in general acted in a very hostile way.
Anti-apartheid movements got labelled as “terrorists” by the US, but on the contrary, received a lot of support from Russia.
Ir certainly says something that nobody in the west opposed apartheid until socialism was no longer a threat in the 90’s
Yeah. And who keeps giving all those weapons and money to Israel while they are carrying out a genocide?
Let’s face it. A single country can be the bad guy in one situation and the good guy in another.
Also, it’s always funny when the US accuses other countries of foreign interference and genocide, because they surely had no problem doing that to Latin America.
The map looks very similar to others during the cold war (US supporting apartheid, a variety of dictatorships and colonial movements and genocidal regimes) yet, you don’t really see anyone asking how the US people let that happen.
People when they find out geopolitics is complex and there ano real bad guys like in the movies.
Why is it that when democrats don’t get what they want they lash out against the actual left, instead of the far-rightists (who are actually making things worse)?
I still see democrats blaming “Bernie bros” for costing them the election, which is seriously wrong.
I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually some of them begin to blame “the woke” for their defeats
