Not a theologian, but I think this is blasphemy.

Someone has an astronomical amount of RAM. Clearly, this is from the distant past.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What age do you stop trusting the government?English
1·5 days agoIt’s not just age, it’s when you’re living. Someone growing up in the '50s probably had more trust in the government than someone growing up in the '60s, for instance. But it really feels like overall trust has dropped significantly since then and probably won’t recover. Part of the reason is we simply know more about what’s going on. There are still secrets, but not like there were in WWII and the decade after.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think of this plan to switch from Instagram to Pixelfed?English
4·6 days agoI basically did that for a while. I’ve never had much of a following, and since it’s a hobby, not something I monetized, it was an easy thing to do. Eventually, though, I stopped posting on Insta entirely and went to Pixelfed exclusively. I kept my account, since like you, I have friends and family who are there and will never move away from it.
Turning this into a mass movement won’t be simple. Most people don’t think all that deeply about the implications of using a Meta product. They go where their friends or favorite celebrities are. If you could get someone with a huge following to make the switch, you might see some momentum.

The purpose of the news isn’t to make you feel good, it’s to inform you of what’s happening outside your front door. But there’s neither time nor space to tell you everything, so some editorial work is required to distill it down to something you can reasonably absorb. Every news source has a different policy around how that is done, obviously. Good news has its audience, but it’s smaller than the one for other kinds of news. And since news costs money to gather, news outlets rely on advertising as a primary source of income. A bigger audience brings in more advertisers and more money, ergo, bad news is the way to go.
