The “absolute” kind of “free speech” that I meant is typically attributed to the right, yes. That’s why you see Musk and Trump talking about it all the time, for example.

I was also gonna say that I see this straw-man a lot on Lemmy. A centrist isn’t someone who takes exactly the half way point between two positions from opposite sides, it’s someone who agrees with some positions from both sides. Like, they can be pro-free speech and pro-immigration, for example.

Anti Meme@sopuli.xyz•But the question is, is a chicken egg an egg containing a chicken or an egg which was laid by a chicken?
1·8 hours agoIn my understanding this question is about the fundamentals of development of life in general, not specifically chicken. But yes, it seems rather trivial to anybody with sufficient education at our current state of scientific progress. Your former option applies specifically to chicken, and the latter applies to life in general, if we assume that division qualifies as giving birth to live babies.
I understand that you mean I’m being unnecessarily pedantic, but I feel like in this particular case “everybody” actually has to mean everybody, or else the whole point is moot. There’s very little value in saying “some people deserve love” or even “most people deserve love”.
But once you add any exceptions, it’s no longer “everyone”, excluding a good chunk of the population and, for example, the guy in the meme might be from your exception list.
But in the same comment you said “everyone deserves to be loved” and “[everyone should] avoid toxic people”. That doesn’t follow.

3·7 days agoI didn’t say I’m not online, but I’m not “terminally online”. Also, IMO “most people” are more online than me, they just don’t read/watch informative stuff.

63·7 days agoThis probably doesn’t matter, but I’m neither terminally online nor am I from US. And I do recommend everybody to watch John Oliver, it’s usually relevant to everybody.

427·7 days agoEverything mentioned in this I’ve already seen covered elsewhere, for the most part by John Oliver. Don’t see why it’s being spammed all over Lemmy. Just because this particular piece was being supposed we gotta “stick it to the man” and share it among the dozens of lemmings?
Green color and less pointy corners definitely makes it look more friendly.
But all of them can equally be partnered with any other, because if you don’t count the right angle difference they all have the same amount of differences and are equally “chill”.
Yes, that’s exactly what I said. B doesn’t have those things you mentioned, meaning A and C do.
I would go with C, because:
A) Not filled
B) Doesn’t have 4 sides/corners (or sum of angles is less than 360 deg.)
C) Isn’t red AND the only shape with all right(ish) anglesSo C is most unlike the others.
What kind of cat eats rice? Mine barely eats cat food…
Umm, I’m sorry to be the one to tell you, guys, but my PC has that exact BIOS screen and it’s 10 years old. They aren’t that “new”.
Oh, ok. Glad we are on the same page here. Enjoy.
What do you mean “no”? Your cat-owning neighbors don’t maintain a cat toilet, do they? Just as I said, so “yes”.

You’re telling me all this like it’s not absolutely obvious to anyone with a brain. But this applies to practically all Trump’s policies, he says one thing and does the opposite or call something with an opposite name and do it directly. The point is that it’s the right that promotes the idea that everyone should be allowed to say whatever they want even if it’s slurs, I just used it as an example. I could have picked any other typically right position that’s not extreme.
