To be fair I think they were using apolitical more to say that what is conventionally politics was not discussed much there and that they set aside said differences, with that post as evidence that there are different people of viewpoints and politics in the server, not that that message was apolitical, the fact that it was political but to the other side was the point

Like on one hand party support of independent media is one of the really strong and dangerous things about the right wing, both through money and connections. A little bit of that for the left would probably be good, and from what I’ve seen at least some of the people they gave offers to were decent influencers or at the very least not like actually evil.

The problem is the execution was so bad, I think if it was a lot more transparent to the public, less restrictive on their speech, they could actually talk about it, etc. would have made this a much better project. The same kind of sketchy, backroom dealings with insane NDAs like the right does just don’t work with the left, people care about trust and truth too much lol
