1.) Assuming that’s truly innate, why should we uphold a system that incentivizes and rewards self serving behaviors with more power?
2.) I would argue a much more genuine claim to why we still exist is actually our communal nature.

How much active development does a browser engine need? If Mozilla died would I quickly be finding a larger chunk of websites that aren’t supported? Because as it sits, Firefox feels like one of the most corporate pieces of open source software I use daily, and I need to know just how tragic it would be if Mozilla died.
Who else would work such magic as making sure there is an AI integration panel, or a cool new logo.
Really it’s actually that businesses with that structure tend to perform better in a market economy
Yes dumping industrial waste into the town water ways, buying up all competition, off-shoring labor, and paying employees as little as they can get away with, are all well incentivized market systems.
Individual business being allowed to be cooperatively owned does not equate an economy where individual ownership of the means of production is disallowed. And as every facet of society seems to being increasingly enshitified while we barrel towards climate collapse, I don’t really feel the need to argue that strict market only economic systems are fundamentally flawed and have outlived their use.
Do you know what were the ‘core values’ of the new Fandom they betrayed?
Mostly because it’s dependent on who told you “Comunism is a flavor of old-world authoritarianism, based upon the idea that mankind is incapable of choosing the right thing, so the right choice is instead mandated by law.”
A good working definition of the ideas of communism is democracy of the work place and the economy. As it stands work places are dictatorships run by bosses that effectively have unilateral control over all choices of the company. Socialism and communism are built on the idea since workers are the ones actually doing the work that make the money and bare the brunt of the choices, they should be the ones making the choices.
Really it’s actually capitalism that supposes people are too dumb to make their own choices or know how a business is run, and thus shouldn’t have say over company choices.
Society broadly. 🤷
nothing to do with apes.
Not yet anyway 😏
Just a heads up, you were lied to about what communism means.
Running on the status quo of a dying empire they lost to a populist lying about ousting corruption and forcing change. This story is a lot older than identity politics.
If you’re running dolphin as sudo and open like a text file in an editor, does it edit the file with sudo?
I can’t wait for more ‘quests’ and notifications about how I’m failing all of them 🫠
It’s my computer, I’ll read and write what I want
Fair enough, yeah I might still dabble in trying it out if I find the time. I just hate adds and apps to a pathological degree, so if discord gets too gross I wanna know how hard it would be to jump ship lol. Thanks for the insights!
My main experience with it was setting up a little space on the matrix.org server. We could in theory venture out into the broader server, but never really bothered. So it definitely wasn’t exactly discord, but worked well for our needs of having a couple rooms and the option to hop into a persistent video/voice room with jitsi.
I’ve never touched the server side, but I am a little curious, especially with the QR account creation someone else mentioned. Not needing to walk folks through logging into another service, and instead just having it be a webpage they visit that stays working would be rad. How did you find running the server?
Yeah I can see what you mean. Even if it is just a sectioned off bit of the glob of discord servers, a discord instance does feel like an island in a way that a matrix space does not. Last I remember using them it was still a little messy in ways that felt strange too. The real struggle is having folks to check them out with considering many of my friend group already had to be talked into trying discord lol.
Isn’t replicating this the goal of spaces? How are those doing on matrix?

Everything they are describing is well supported by solid evidence that you can look up. Further, in conversations of what would drive women out of stem, the welcome harshness and sexism pushing people away is the core of issue.
Ultimately this dismissive attitude towards a well known and understood phenomenon speaks to the arrogance of those that disagree with the well established reality.
You are going out of your way to poke holes in someone describing a very rare and valid view that demonstrates the discrepancy gender presentation gives in lived experience, and how it follows well tested sexist trends by holding their tumblr post to the standard of a scientific paper. You are so desperate to preserve your warped world view that the severity of sexism in STEM isn’t as big of a deal as it is made out that you have taken a genuinely ridiculous position.
Do better.
I was gonna join Hexbear because I like their takes on Juche, but I hear Dave thinks they aren’t acting in good faith.
