With Night Country, there’s only one question: Was it worth resurrecting the long-dormant True Detective franchise — and without its original creator, Nic Pizzolatto?

Still I’m pretty excited for this one. I’ve liked all three to different degrees, although S1 is an absolute classic and the others aren’t quite at that level.

Let’s begin with the joke that got us going in “The Dreamer.” The late Norm MacDonald, we are told, had invited Chappelle to the filming of the movie “Man in the Moon,” in which Jim Carrey played cryptic comedy icon Andy Kaufman. To Chappelle’s dismay, Carrey remained steadfastly in character while on set.

Chappelle sighs, “I was very disappointed because I wanted to meet Jim Carrey and I had to pretend he was Andy Kaufman all afternoon. It was clearly Jim Carrey. I could look at him and clearly see it was Jim Carrey.” Which brings us to the punchline: “That’s how trans people make me feel.”

Because the only way I can read it is that he’s saying trans people are inauthentic and fake, that they are pretending to be something they aren’t. But maybe we just aren’t as clever as you are and don’t understand it. Right? Or maybe you just don’t want to admit your favorite comic is a piece of shit.

People in the nineteenth century really did think showing a bit of neck was some kind of sin though, so this artist was just documenting his time. If the weirdo you contracted to paint show up like this… you make those neck wrappings look good.

That’s how many people use this sub per day, according to the sidebar. And I would guess it’s one of the bigger ones? So it’s more than dozens, but it’s still a blip for most social media sites. At least until the next spez inflicted fiasco happens and there’s another user surge.

I didn’t find it boring, in fact I enjoyed it a lot. But once you finish all the main+side quests and maybe try out new game + a couple times there’s not really any reason to continue. They need to really work at making the planets and their pre-fab buildings more diverse. I can understand it if the structures themselves are pre-fabs based on templates, but having the exact same layout down to dead bodies and storage containers was really bad. Fix that and add in a survival mode that makes resource gathering necessary, and let the modders fill in the gaps with new quests and locations and I’ll be back. But probably not for a couple years.

Netflix doesn’t give a single shit about online reviews. All they care about is if people are watching it. And the numbers are really good from what I read. But I guess the anti-woke brigade needs to do something to feel like they’re relevant.
