Hallo ich mache Philosophie, Technik und Gesellschaft.
Who needs a growing economy anyway?
Maybe we shouldn’t have to rely on the economy growing?
I wonder how many of these studies are made by the tourism branch of economy to attract travellers.
Anyways, hope you’re doing fine up there :)
short anecdote:
I met a girl from afghanistan recently and it kinda made me understand why it’s so important to accept these people. they’ve really been through a lot and not accepting them would be a bad mistake.
It’s how people say: you’re against migration until you’ve actually met some migrants.
Still, it sours me that we talk so much about migration and migrants and so little about the reasons for migration, which are the horrible wars that the US and allies have fought in afghanistan and nearby countries for long time for practically little to no reason. honestly, it’s the US’s fault, and they should take some responsibility and actually care for these people, even if only financially.
You can make it if you just believe in yourself!
At some point one has to ask oneself not whether one can, but whether one should. Is it really worth it trying everything and giving your all for a company which will probably ditch you in the end, after all? I don’t think so. Don’t put in more effort than you expect to get as a result.
You’re also forgetting that cereals contain almost no vitamins or fiber, but avocado does. So, to make up for it, you should eat a salad to your cereals. Then calculate the price again. You will find (I guess) that avocado can compete with cereals+salad.
selective breeding
I wonder, isn’t sexual selection a form of “selective breeding”?
Yes, poor young single males are more likely to be violent criminals. Maybe that’s a reason to not take them in in huge numbers?
Well, there’s war in the middle east, and the western world (including parts of europe) caused it. So it’s only fair that we care for the refugees.
too many people conflate “not wanting foreigners to come to our country” with “not liking foreigners”.
don’t get me wrong, i have no problem with foreigners. I’m not a racist. But i don’t like them coming to our country.
I understand that we have to accept them, because (a) they need help and (b) we’re the reason they need help (the western world caused the wars in the middle east).
Still I think it’s wrong to uproot the lives of many people (moving them from one country to another). Especially I think it’s disgusting how european politicians are discussing refugees as a way to “support our economy”, as if they were a mere tool of production. We have to put people first and economy second again.

I understand you’re excited, but aren’t you overdoing it a bit?
Edit: This diagram should certainly show the numbers of hours worked per population number. That would clearly reveal more interesting data.
Ich denke mir immer bei diesen Diagrammen, es sollte die wöchentliche Arbeitszeit pro Einwohner geschrieben stehen. Das wäre viel nützlicher.
for anyone not aware: that was probably sarcastic. Italy has probably the most traditional family values in all of europe.
@0x815 are you the opposite-analogy to @Yugthos, or what’s their name, posting exclusively propaganda for one side?
In fact not. I may be awkward, but I’m not evil or cruel. So that’s that.
you could start with FOSS software.
I’m stealing sharing/redistributing this:
I haven’t seen the alien franchise, but I agree with the rest.
To me, it seems to be a problem with IP (“intellectual property”). Setting IP higher should in theory advance private research and investment, while causing scarcity to the public having to rely on these services. Low IP means more equality within society, but also slower research/progress.
Personally I think that spaceflight is only at its very beginning; And it should be heavily invested and researched into. And stronger commercialization of space flight can help with that, IMO.
this is how you start a civil war.
