  • You continue to miss the fact that I’m not dogmatic about the US being unequivocally “good”.

I’m fully aware of the very fucked up history that the US has (and more than a few of our allies have) in the context of sketchy colonialist/imperialist stuff. My country’s actions in Latin America over the course of the First Cold War - not to mention after its conclusion - are imo largely indefensible.

But if you think the USSR (or now, Russia) was unequivocally “good”, you are high on your own supply.

And not to mention: non-authoritarian communist and socialist systems can and do exist. They are distinct from authoritarian communist systems, primarily in the fact that the “authoritarian” part is far more important and impactful than the “communist” part. You’re also trying to pidgeonhole things into a dichotomy, when in fact the reality is far more nuanced.

  • I feel like Airbus has a BIG opportunity in area of AWACS platforms - making an E-7 (AWACS-flavored 737) competitor would probably see more than a few interested buyers. Considering the success of the Saab 340 AEW&C, perhaps a collaboration between them could be useful. Upsizing and expanding the systems capabilities to use the additional space and power of an A320neo or A350 would be a very interesting basis for an AWACS, EW, and C3 platform. Also, it’d probably provide a good amount of headroom in terms of future extensibility.

  • I am fully aware of how obnoxiously opaque and misleading headlines tend to be in the modern media context. I do not need to be preached to about that.

My point is that Russia is demonstrably unable to achieve victory in their war with Ukraine, and that Ukraine is exhibiting an astounding level of strategic ability against Russia in retaliation for strikes against their own civilian infrastructure.

Moreover, there are absolutely zero rational or plausible scenarios in which the EU instigates a war against Russia, and claiming that the EU would even consider such a thing - outside of reacting to military action instigated by Russia - is not only nonsense, but also blatantly obvious Russophilic propaganda.

And, you know, the source OP posted is known to be a platform for RT, which is essentially Russian state media.
