1 year agoagreed. life in these countries is nasty, brutish and long. lots of convenience and cool culture, but completely negated by a horrendous work ethic, which consumes your entire life. some people are into that, but most people i know do not think of that as a good way to live.

story: last week, an old dude crashed into my parked car and totaled it. when i saw the damage i was naturally pissed off but spotted his details on the windscreen. when i phoned him he was really apologetic and explained that he already took liability. that instantly calmed me down.
yes, he screwed up but the guy was decent enough to own up to it, when he couldve ran away. now insurance is getting me a brand new car with no strings attached. the whole incident made me hopeful, even though it was a gigantic pain in the ass, that there are still good, honest people out there in this mean world.
