2·2 months agoMy problem is that phones with any width greater than 71mm feel painful to use after a while. The keyboard feels too stretched out and harder to type on as well.
And the other 2?

13·2 months agoNo, just convert any laptop into Linux if you want an open-source computer. All these phablets are extremely unfriendly to people with hand pain/injuries. Bigger is not better and I really wish manufacturers knocked this off. Screens also dig into battery life tremendously.

54·2 months agolol the truth comes out. I just wanna stay as close to Windows as would be comfortable without Microsoft’s telemetry, personally ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve never used Vent nor Teamspeak, either. I just don’t get why Reddit’s/Lemmy’s excellent threading can’t be followed more closely. I understand that IMs fire rapidly and can bury threads up above, but the current format is just too unwieldy for mass discussion.
Actually, it’s the lack of E2E that I dislike the most. There doesn’t seem to be any easy way to solve real-time child comments, but at least Matrix is E2E. Revolt, while not E2E (and lacking video-streaming), can at least be self-hosted as well. Where Discord excels insanely is in its live screen-sharing; nothing comes close except maybe Google Meet and Zoom.
Discord has such a ridiculous, unfriendly layout, too; almost any other platform has a better UI…

Like what? You can’t even Bluetooth a file on an iPhone over to anything.
Have you just never driven interstate or cross-country? I once had to cover 2k miles in 4 days. At 8 hours of driving/day, your restriction would have made it take a week, so you should then pay for my back pain from the truck, the cost of those extra nights, etc.
65 or 70 MPH is a much more reasonable cap. That I could totally get behind!

I only mod /r/WestAllis because it was locked from new submissions; I just wanted to reopen it for public discussion and to promote a local board game gathering I run there (which has gotten maybe one redditor who is also on Facebook, which is where the bulk of promotion happens anyway). So, there: you have now met at least one, lol.

5·2 months agoDid you know that Monopoly was originally invented by a woman whose point was how horrible monopolies are? It originally had a co-op mode that could topple monopolies through unions and co-ops.
Her game was bought by a jerk who removed the co-op mode and then claimed Monopoly as his own game. She died penniless.
If the capitalist system incentivizes me to outcompete others and hoard my wealth and, conversely, punishes me for my altruism; then, I am forced to play by the rules of such a system.
So change it… or be a pebble in the mountain of change.

Dang. I never thought of using the discovery servers for that purpose. Creative! Just hope that one side doesn’t accidentally delete everything in there…
