I did. It’s rambling and unclear. I was trying to help the best I could. Good luck.
I don’t know what you’re doing and what you’re really asking.
You want a static site? Hugo or jekyll.
You can host them with git hub/lab pages for free.
There are options for contact forms but it will require additional setup. Searching for what you want + platform + tutorial should help point you in the right direction. (Eg https://discourse.gohugo.io/t/is-it-possible-to-add-a-contact-form-to-a-site/1550/3)
I wound up with gollum. Git based with a wiki format. Works well enough for my limited use.
What band are you looking to operate on? I’d say most of us got our start on repeaters so I’d say that’s the place for a simple beginner voice transmission. If you haven’t seen it yet you can use this site to help find ones near you:
https://www.repeaterbook.com/index.php/en-us/
Otherwise there are 2m and 70cm calling frequencies, I believe 146.52 and 446.00, but repeaters would be more populated.
https://hamstudy.org/sessions/remote is a good list. You may even be able to get same day testing.
Good luck!
The NY Times no knead. It’s just so easy. It doesn’t make the best loaf but the effort to tasty ratio is pretty damn good.
And since you asked for biscuits - I’m in the north so I don’t know any better but these are so simple and come out so good. I do replace the shortening with cold butter though. I didn’t like the taste of vegetable shortening.
Not angry no. Just don’t be so quick to judge a comment made off hand by a developer triaging tickets. Bolded text and jumping to conclusions that devs don’t care helps no one. Attempt to educate instead. Not everything has to be internet outrage.
And good on you for being introspective.
I apologize but I’ll be blunt - you went way over the top with your comment.
The guy is trying to triage some tickets, made a reasonable guess at policy and was greeted by a dissertation and accusations. You then double down by posting here like there’s cause for some huge alarm. I’m a fairly big privacy advocate and even I was rolling my eyes. These type of comments make working in open source not enjoyable.
Unsolicited advice - Take a deep breath, have reasonable conversations with people building and maintaining software, and don’t take every small offhanded comment as the sky falling.
When you copy /home make sure you get the “hidden” files. They start with a “.” and some programs ignore them by default. That’s also where most configuration files are.
Check out rsync -avz
Not who you asked but I have a smartish home. There is no real need. It just affords convenience and for me lands pretty squarely in “hobby” territory.
My lights turn on prior to sunset, and turn off after I go to bed. My porch lights dim at 10pm so I don’t disturb my neighbors as much. I have additional states of lights that are predicated on various scenarios. In short, I never touch a light switch, I never walk into a dark house, and my energy usage is reduced.
My vehicle mileage and tire pressures are reported on a dashboard for me to monitor.
My network statistics are monitored and graphed.
Energy usage of electronics of interest to me are monitored and graphed.
I have a software defined radio that I’m able to use remotely. Using a smart outlet I’m able to turn it on and off remotely as well instead of leaving it on 24/7.
Unfortunately I have a camera that is cloud based my SO uses to monitor pets. Using a smart outlet I turn it on only when we are not home.
Some of this can be accomplished with less smart means, some of it can’t, but it’s been fun to get it all setup.
I’m here kinda often - looks like orange site is yc. Never seen the hostility displayed by OP towards it here though. In fact the only time I see links there tend to be via the mirroring bots.
A little bit of a different tack but check out getting into ham radio. There are a lot of kits out there that are reasonably easy to assemble and provide some good documentation on what you’re assembling.
And when you’re done you can talk to people all over the world with what you made!
Not a particularly helpful comment but I struggled with this kinda thing until switching to Node Red. It made complex things much easier to get working.

I use this recipe and it is absolutely my most requested loaf of bread I make. More than one person calls me up to ask that I make it.
Make sure you make the butter topping, get some nice flaked salt (I use wild garlic flake salt).
If you’re new to bread the best thing you can do for yourself is get a scale and weigh your ingredients.
And practice a lot
Is there a place for funny shirts anymore a la woot back when it was good? I got so many good ones back then….
This is all true ofc but holy crap - Jon is returning to the daily show.

I did 1300 queries which I think would put it at .007 cents per query. Sounds reasonable to me.
I always fear it comes across that way when I recommend it to people here. I’m just a very happy user and want to see them succeed.
What are you trying to understand and what type of project are you looking at? Are you looking to run a program or use a library?
Good documentation to me is here’s how to get this installed, here’s a basic overview of getting started, here’s all the methods/functions with their arguments and a description, and optionally some very basic examples programs to sanity check everything is working ok.
