I love the public washrooms in parks that are closed ‘after hours’, despite the park facilities being rented out for adult sports outside of those hours

they’re really streamlining that sex offender pipeline by telling adults to piss in the woods next to a park, often near a school

I’ve actually used chat GPT (or was it Cursor? I dont remember now) to help write a script for a program with a very (to me, a non-programmer) convoluted, but decently well documented API.

it only got a few things right, but the key was that it got enough right for me to go and fix the rest. this was for a task I’d been trying to do every now and then for a few years. was nice to finally have it done.

but damn, does “AI” ever suck at writing the code I want it to. or maybe I just suck at giving prompts. idk. one of my bosses uses it quite a bit to program stuff, and he claims to be quite successful with it. however, I know that he barely validates the result before claiming success, so… “look at this output!” — “okay, but do those numbers mean anything?” — “idk, but look at it! it’s gotta be close!”

there are places that don’t follow a weekly schedule but rather another number of days, presumably because it’s considered a balance of lower cost and frequent enough pickup

I’m happy with my alternating garbage/cardboard and plastics/glass weeks, with the green bin picked up every week, though. seems like a perfect schedule — just enough time to get a bin of recycling worth putting out, and with the green bin coming weekly, I sometimes struggle to even get enough garbage to bother tying the bag up and putting it out

isn’t the difference here supposed to be the level of danger/lethality/intent?

like if you burn someone’s house down with them inside, vs quietly breaking in to steal shit. if you burn down a house that probably has people in it, that’s murder even if it wasn’t 100% intentional, you should have known that was a likely outcome

the concept is okay, even good, I would say. if somebody does as a direct consequence of your actions, well, you murdered them — but that requires some nuance and work to determine how “direct”.

but the implementation, oh boy, that’s classic police state america
