SearXNG is also amazing. The only reason I don’t use it more is because it doesn’t have an integration into the URL bar in Firefox.
That would help to some extent with scarcity in opt-in countries. But there are already opt-out countries which still face the same dilemma. Because if you’re even one organ short how do you fairly decide who’s gonna die… Can you even fairly decide about someone’s life and death…
From my limited knowledge organ donation criteria are horribly restrictive on a personal scale but unfortunately make sense on the macro scale. Organs are such a scarce resource that as I understand there’s no other option.
This girl’s death was undoubtedly a tragedy, but as fucked up it’s to say if she lived someone else would probably die in a similar agony. Was she treated fairly - I don’t know, can we make this system better - I unfortunately also don’t know.
When you use Celsius from birth 41C does make you say FORTY ONE DEGREES?!!!
You are indeed correct, some artistic freedom is definitely expected from that kind of series. But relying on Russian propaganda sources and making Legasov a hero doesn’t qualify as artistic freedom but misinformation. Also the representation of the soviet reality was at least inaccurate - my dad who was raised in the former soviet block summarised it as “representing how Americans think it was not how it truly was”.
Chernobyl is a good and very interesting series and it’s good that it raises at least some awareness about the catastrophe. But imo it could be more technically and historically accurate without losing its attractiveness.

I do know from experience that networks are complicated and users are dumb, but I still think that if someone with barely any knowledge and without malicious intent can mess with your network then something’s wrong with the setup.
But if the bio or art major can seriously affect your network then is that even their fault? What if someone had skill and malicious intent?
If someone deploys their router using a uni network as wan then I don’t see how that could affect other uni network users? I can imagine some internal services might not work behind such a router but it would be illogical of the user to blame anyone but themselves.
Can you give some examples of issues you mention?
The movies usually show an asystole being defibrillated and that is not done. To the best of my very limited medical knowledge you first need to use CPR and medication to get some electric activity from the heart to defibrillate.
We should be sending solar panels to the developing world as fast as humanly possible
More of addendum than criticism - sending random stuff to developing countries is one of the problems. Solar panels need proper infrastructure and maintenance. Instead of sending them for the west to feel good, we should rather empower governments of those countries to take their own initiative, build infrastructure, train people and make the panels very affordable for them.
I don’t see a monospaced version anyway
hyperfixations
You probably mean “special interest”. Simplifying, hyperfixation is such a strong fixation on something that you absolutely can’t think about anything else.

I understand and agree with your attitude to buying a car on credit. Two semi-objective justifications I can see are safety and quality-of-life.
Newer and better cars are safer, and you might not have even a minor collision throughout the whole lifetime of the car, but the (hopefully never) day a crash happens you’ll be forever grateful to yourself you bought this car. And if you have some “smart” assistants on-board those actually can make you not end up in the accident.
From my experience I have realized that (within reasonable bounds) if spending more on something results in substantiality higher quality-of-life then it’s a money well spent. Because you end up being happier, calmer and actually more productive if you don’t have to waste your energy on inconvenient things.
Not sure if that makes you feel any better…
Sorry mate, those figures with no meaningful captions are borderline incomprehensible. Like, what’s the difference between first and second figure?
I sadly need to point out that you might have missed a few anatomy lessons
Doesn’t frequent cleaning of sinuses cause irritation? I believe healthy sinuses should be mostly self cleaning. Of course if you have some long-term condition then it’s different
