Thing is, you never have any clue whether the AI is telling you something even remotely true unless you go behind it and trawl through six pages of shitty SEO-optimized bullshit anyway. So you can either take its word at face value and potentially be completely wrong, or else just do the research yourself anyway and ignore the AI answer.

Personally, I choose the second. I find it to be less frustrating if I just assume the AI is wrong.

AGMs are actually worth the squeeze even on a car that doesn’t necessarily require one, they’re genuinely good-ass batteries. Expensive, though. But they’ll blow the pants off a lead acid in a stress test.

Also lots of cars have an option to toggle the auto-off. Not all of them though. And some will reset it every time you turn the car on and off.

I see quite a lot of your posts in my daily browsing and they’re almost exclusively all long-form well thought out responses like this one. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you have a bad take about anything. I greatly respect your life experience and your opinions, they mirror a lot of what I’ve seen myself in the world as a generally curious soul.

Ever played Wasteland? The OG ones are from like 1988 and pretty crunchy but Wasteland 3 dropped in 2020 and I quite enjoyed it.

I remember being 11 and playing Super Mario World and a couple Zelda games about a hundred times each. I came back to them over and over, I remember the maps and layout of Ocarina of Time better than I remember some of my childhood homes.

Now I have a steam library with 750 games in it and I can barely finish with the game I’m currently playing before I’m back on the store pages looking for more novelty. I think the average play time of items in my library is something like 2 hours.

I hate what I’ve become but I’ve lost what I had in the past. When I only had like five games I had no problem coming back to them over and over and over, but now that I’ve got my own income and no oversight I’ve flooded myself with options to the point that I don’t even want to play any of them. It sucks. I take solace in the fact that I pretty exclusively buy things on sale, so the total money pile is roughly half the size it would have been otherwise, but even so I don’t really want to know how much money I’ve spent on steam over my career. Fae don’t play by the same rules as mortals. Just because they possess your name doesn’t make it their name. It just makes it not yours. And Fae magic doesn’t necessarily rely on truenames, it relies more on expression and emotion. If you think that your name is your name, and now a Fae has taken it from you, it gives them power over you. And most especially Fae power is held in deals, contracts, favors, tit-for-tat. They asked you for your name and you gave it freely. That’s a contract. If you want it back, you’re going to need to draft a new contract.

Besides, most fae won’t exert such complete control. Some will, definitely. But most of them prefer to trap you inside dealings of your own design. You’ll make an initial deal, which you know is a bad idea but you don’t have much of a choice - it always starts like this, with an offer you can’t refuse, such as recovering your name after giving it. Then you make another deal to escape the consequences of the first one. Then another. Then another. Before you know it you’re bound by multiple conflicting deals and can’t possibly keep your word on all of them - and then that’s when they really get you. Broken promises hold terrifying power with the Fae.

Sure, when you’ve got the societal and material advantage. Go 1v1 a cow out in a field and you might change your mind. Those things are up to 2,000 pounds of brick shithouse. You might not kill one if you hit it with your car.

In my circles “Trump card” has evolved to mean the exact opposite of what it used to. It used to mean “the one move that guarantees your win”, now it means “the move that guarantees your loss”.

Yeah I’ve never had this issue with Android, not least of which is because you’re able to just root it and install whatever ROM/OS you want. If Google pushes an unstable update just wipe that shit and put Lineage on it.

Apple only gets away with it because they put their users in a walled garden where you have no choice but to receive Apple’s updates on their timeframe. I quit that life in 2006 when they updated my iPod Touch into uselessness and haven’t come across the problem again since switching to Android.
