Reminds me, I gotta get a stack of CD-R and burn some of my CDs that I’ve scratched up by rolling around in my car.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What to do with a 10-year-old Macbook Air?
3·1 day agoYep! It’s just a laptop, nothing different about it. I’ve installed Ubuntu and Windows alongside MacOS on my 2015 MacBook Pro.

3·1 day agoYou should install Debian on the laptop instead of running it though a VM. Or a friendlier Debian-based distro like Mint. I don’t know if that’ll fix that issue specifically but it’s generally easier to debug and handle network issues when it’s not running through a VM. At the very least, you’ll get a more lightweight OS and learn lots!

11·2 days agoHe doesn’t say that they’re good quality. Just, once in a lifetime quality. Interpretation is up the reader.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Wine 11 rewrites how Linux runs Windows games at the kernel level, and the speed gains are massiveEnglish
6·3 days agoYou will also need to add PlayIntro=0 to the .ini file as well or the intro will crash the game. There’s one for playing at high resolutions as well and an audio dll to fix as well, but both of those are needed on Windows as well.
Edit: even then, the game crashes often in medium/late game. And the load game is a chore because it doesn’t store the last location. Overall it is a pain but I got through university this way playing on Ubuntu.

Edit: checked protondb, it’s Proton version 5.0-10

I didn’t realize that the first checkout at my grocery store was the express checkout for like the first year. I just went to that line because it was the shortest. Thankfully I usually didn’t do the full grocery shop but was usually just grabbing a couple things. Made me wonder if I ever brought a full cart through, probably did.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Meatless chicken is better than regular chickenEnglish
4·4 days agoAbsolutely the animal. There is no other meaning of the word chicken when buying chicken that means that it is not chicken.
Edit: unless it’s an adjective like “chicken substitute”

The “four oh one” is referring to Highway 401 which happens to be the busiest and most miserable road in North America. The other numbers are other highways but they’re usually not as bad.
The 401 looks like this most days.
