About 15 years ago, I moved to a city where I didn’t know anyone. I joined Twitter because I like to try new apps as early as possible. It turned out to be a great place to talk about live music in my city, amongst other things. I met all my friends on Twitter.
At that time in my city, it was very much the town square that Elon wants it to be now. It was a place to discuss events in realtime; especially sporting events.
I suspect the advantage for Twitter was that you could communicate with people you didn’t know directly like celebrities, authors, politicians, etc. Not just write to them, but they write back because sending off a short message is much easier than making a call or writing a letter. Sometimes that is an unhealthy parasocial relationship but, it doesn’t have to be.
Kevin Smith basically started writing the movie Tusk in a collaborative way with Twitter.
Ah! The sandwich heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry investor!
That sucks. I work for a company that does that too but I don’t get reprimanded for doing it this way. I hope you are able to figure out a what works best for you and that they’ll let you take it.
Instead of taking traditional vacation throughout the year, I started taking as many Wednesdays as I can for this exact reason. I picked Wednesday specifically because no one else is off to need my attention and I can actually focus on my own chores or my mental health.
Two days is not enough for me to get caught up.
It is a large Division 1 university. I don’t know exactly how big the incinerator is. Thankfully I wasn’t the one who handled that particular task.
I assume it comes down to our hazmat clearances, though. Just a guess. That was almost 20 years ago!
Bingo.
Yup. And not just those voters. It’s an issue in most groups.
There are even plenty of women that won’t vote for a woman.
Would liberals support him? Sure.
Would liberals support her? No.
You are already a gamer!
I’m a 36 year old woman who grew up playing them with my dad. My sister is a year younger than me get than me. She grew out of it a bit but she still plays “cozy”, low to no pressure games. I like long role playing games with interesting stories.
If you want any recommendations or a new friend to play with, I’m here! I also know of several gaming groups for women.
I’d like to know more about what you’re interested to give better suggestions but here are a few that might pique your interest.
Balatro is a recently popular card game. You can play it on your phone or on a computer. It works sort of like poker, but you apply effects to the cards to multiply your score.
A Little To The Left is a puzzle game. You play the owner of a mischievous cat and your goal is to reorganize the messes that your cat made throughout the house, like sorting the mail, organizing a battery draw, displaying sea shells you collected etc
Unpacking is also a puzzle game. You literally unpack boxes in various rooms. Sometimes it’s hard to make everything fit. As you progress through each level, you learn about the main character’s life.
If you want something more traditional, Ori and the Blind Forest is absolutely beautiful. In that, you play as a small guardian spirit and you navigate through a forest solving puzzles, collecting items, and jumping between platforms (sorta like Mario).
I have direct experience with this.
In college, I got a job on campus in their Environment, Health, and Safety department. Mostly, I just calibrated fume hoods in labs.
During my time there, a hippo at a nearby zoo passed away. I don’t want to be too specific because it can be a bit icky, but they essentially shipped it to us for incineration.
Yeah, Futurama is either incredibly obvious or not at all. There isn’t as much middle ground as I had hoped!
You want me to do two things?
You’re probably right. I was thinking of keeping a running tally of guesses but, I was afraid it would be a lot to do.
I modeled the whole game off the !thesimpsons@lemmy.world’s version.
Honestly, I just wanted to see more Futurama in my feed and I like seeing other users comment their favorite quotes from each episode.
I have no idea how to rate the difficulty. I watch Futurama everyday and have them memorized, but I assume most aren’t like me.
Yyyyeeeeaaah. It is…an episode.
I’m in my mid 30s and I know a lot of people my age who are like that too. They just aren’t curious about how things function. That’s okay, though. They have other talents that I don’t have.
This made me actually laugh out loud. I’m calling gen z that from now on
I personally don’t, but it’s a sentiment I hear around me from time to time in the workplace or on TV.
I watch Apple TV shows more than any other service. I love SciFi and they have an excellent set of shows in that genre.
I can tell no one is watching though. The just cancelled Big Door Prize, which was really good.
