The 21st of July looms for Kamala Harris and the much smaller world of advisers left around her. It’s the day she’s set to lose the US Secret Service protection that former vice presidents are granted for six months — six months from the inauguration that she believed would be her own after Joe Biden gave her 107 days to win the 2024 election when he ended his reelection bid last July 21.
By this date, multiple people close to her say they increasingly believe Harris will have finally ended the intrigue over her political future and be preparing for a 2026 California gubernatorial run. Though she hasn’t made up her mind yet, several of those people tell CNN they expect an official launch would likely come in August or soon after Labor Day.
Despite Harris’s pitiful 2020 run, there’s no real reason to believe a Republican could take California in any statewide election. It’s more likely that she’ll run against another Democrat in the general due to CA state laws.
Schwarzenegger was governor when I moved to this state like fifteen years ago, I’m not saying it’s likely but if you got the right personality in there it could definitely happen. Like imagine for a moment hearing the phrase: “Governor-elect Joe Rogan.”
20 years ago was a different time period and Arnold only won off a recall election. Of course it’s possible a Republican could come along when a deeply unpopular Democrat is running or another recall election with low turnout could happen, but demographics have shifted. So many Republicans have fled for Texas or Florida that Orange County is solidly purple.
There’s nobody with the name recognition to beat Kamala (who will also have the institutional support).
The thought of Governor Rogan did put a chill down my spine, it’s just stupid enough to happen.
Fortunately, Dwayne Johnson lives in Florida currently
Do not underestimate her incompetence.
