Scabs are the worst. I hope that they give um hell
I am an avid diver, I love seas and stuff. Also, what is an ocean please ?
“I work well under pressure!”
*bans everyone*Removed by mod
Yeah, so many useful idiots parroting the phrase “the mods are powertripping!”. Sure, we’ve all seen asshole mods, but these scabs are going to really teach a lot of people the true meaning behind the word powermod. I’m glad I stocked up on popcorn!
Holy crap lol, when I visited the /u/ModCodeofConduct account recently, all the posts nowadays are simply just trying to find mods for literally a huge range of subreddits. Lmao it’s insane seeing the new mods just banning users left and right.
The only users in that thread who seem supportive of this change and are berating “the other redditors throwing a fit” for whatever reason, and I count three of them, seem to all:
-
Have accounts 1-3 months old
-
Not have participated in /r/diving before this thread
Very interesting.
Boring as usual
Ratio as usual
Loser
Say it to my face.
–spiderman
Of course, the redditor here dives immediately into schizo nonsense while ignoring the majority of users (lurkers).
BUT BUT THE UPVOTES SAY SOMETHING
Sure, buddy. It’s 37k readers, and the top comment has 28 net votes. It’s amazing how you people think the terminally online who constantly scroll and click around are representative of the average user.
The only people that matter to the popularity of a sub are the people making the content and posting.
The average lurker is there for information and interest. If the people who actually contribute content, ie. Not the average lurker, are not happy with the changes and are being vocal about it and leaving as a result of the new moderation team trying to end the protest then the quality, frequency, usefulness of the content (basically what keeps the lurkers there) goes to shit and the sub becomes a ghost town.
Sure the average user might not care about the protests but the average user doesnt post or comment/offer the information and co tent that keeps the subs interesting/alive.
Its amazing that you people think the people who made reddit what it was are not important to the website and somehow lurkers who contribute nothing are.
Edit: oh! Look at that, youve been here a few days and have 0 posts and a hanful of comments that have all got negative votes. Almost everything you have said has been to insult the people you are replying to.
Frankly mate. Go back to reddit. I think you would fit i a little better there with all the other lurkers that you so love.
You are literally unhinged I mean that with no due disrespect. Go back to Facebook.
–spiderman
If anyone is unhinged here its clearly the literal troll who is posting random nonsense and signing off as spiderman.
Do you see the irony here?
I sctually do see some but I am now genuinely curious what your point of view may be? If you’re not a pussy feel free to elaborate.
I don’t even care about all that shit. I just want to stop the needless negativity that’s infesting this site.
–spiderman
Why do you sign all of your comments like it’s 1998 and you’re using a Blackberry?
OK boomer.

Uhhh just did retard.
–spiderMAN
Go back to Reddit mate.

That user is an account that is 11 months old, who also praises Spez for banning Cringetopia and has awards for reopening subreddits and becoming mods.
Goose’s account is 1 month old.
Speaking of cringe, sheesh.
Hey, he has 21 dives in!
I know nothing about the hobby but even reading that I was like ‘damn 21 sounds like a pretty low number’
It is pretty low. I logged around 60 dives in 2 years. Granted I live in Florida just a few miles from the ocean. I’ve met people that lived in Nebraska who were avid divers and did their first ocean dives on the charter boat I was on but they had more dives under their belt and more certifications than I did.
I have done 12 dives in one day.
–spidey
12 in a day isn’t really a thing, but 3 I’ve certainly seen/done.
Sounds like you know nothing about diving ::marseyeyeroll:;
I’ve dived about 5 times just by going to rental places and on guided tours.
It’s not hard to get numbers up. Besides to be certified (as in you can go diving yourself) you have to have done in certain number of hours not a certain number of sessions.
The fact he doesn’t claim to be certified, or working towards certification makes me think that perhaps he doesn’t actually know what he’s talking about.
In that one ocean!
Yet here you are gatekeepers new users for being neurodivergent.
–spiderman
I’ve seen nothing about neurodivergent harassing here.
Harassing assholes? Sure. Perhaps yo have trouble separating the two?
Just shut up.
Thanks.
Ironically, doesn’t your comment imply that all neurodivergent people are assholes? That’s kinda anti-neurodivergent tbh.
Is that a reference to something? I don’t see anyone gatekeeping anything against anyone.
What are you on about?
Also where does Spiderman come into it?
I have no idea what you’re even on about, is this goose guy ND?
Also I’m autistic, so have fun making accusations on me; retard.
How could go about posting this on our Lemmy/scuba?
What an utter travesty, a complete car crash.
No depths they won’t sink to.
I see what you did there
“As an avid diver myself (21 dives across all 7 oceans)”
yeah … um … ooh boy …
Yeah. The only way that makes sense is military.
That would be easy access to all 7 oceans.
And then 21 dives means 21 civilian dives. Because they cant talk about the work stuff.
insert Navy Seals copypasta
They open with:
“First let me introduce myself. Naturally i work well under pressure”
To me that rules out option 2 or 3: rich sob on vacations or yacht deckhand fucking around on breaks while working for rich ass sob.
first mod reads like your dad getting hold of a book of water puns and finding out you just got your cert
You can tell master divers by their cunning use of puns.

ALL SEVEN OCEANS!!!
Yarrr we plunder 'cross the seven seas!
Fun fact, the term “7 seas” has never referred to any specific list of seas and is older than knowledge of the Pacific/Indian oceans by western cultures
I always imagine the Roman’s got confused by all the different names for all the bits of the Mediterranean, such as the Ionian Sea and the Aegean abd the Adriatic and the Thyrrenean and just went: All of them. All seven or whatever. Yeah seven sounds nice. Now stop bothering me about the bay of whatever.
Source?
Because there are over 50 seas?
But more colloquially, the 7 seas are generally taken to be 7 different regions of the 5 oceans (seeing as most people recognise the southern ocean as the 5th of the traditionally 4 oceans).I know you are trolling and sealioning or JAQing off.
But, for such established facts, you can Google these things yourself.
And even if you don’t trust most of the sources, the majority will confirm there are not 7 seas. You can call me a dumbass all you want. Doesn’t change the real facts. You and your hobby hurt the environment. There is 0 environmental benefit from you polluting the seven seas. Call me a sea lion. Hope the next time you see a dead one you think about what I said.
–spiderman
Well, I didn’t call you a dumbass.
I know you are new here. Maybe you are used to Reddit. I find a lot more of the discussions here are done in good faith.I definitely hurt the environment. It’s, unfortunately, what humans do. I try not to, but it seems just existing requires it to some extent.
Also, I’m not a diver.
I dropped in to this discussion, saw you asking for a source, so I provided easily google-able answers to try and clear stuff up.So, check your assumptions, wind your neck in, and chill out.
Or pour another glass of wine, and enjoy your weekend of trolling. What?
Lol lots of divers don’t even start getting comfortable controlling their buoyancy until 30 or 40 dives in.
How would you know? Are you a diver?
Yes. I have worked professionally in recreational diving as a certified divemaster, and have logged hundreds of dives. I don’t even mean to put down the person in the article - I truly believe someone can be an avid diver even after their first dive. The way the entire sentence was worded made it sound pretty funny though, as if they were trying to impress with experience. At 21 dives, you’re likely the one the divemaster is going to stick close to, and there’s lots of things they’re not going to take you close to.
For real. If I dive somewhere new and my assigned buddy gives me the “avid diver with 21 dives”, I’m going to assume he’s a fucking idiot.
Yeah and they’re probably just a vacation diver if they’re serious about diving in different oceans. Diving with a different set of equipment each time means you never get used to trimming out. Half the people on charters don’t even know how much weight to take.
Actually you should stop polluting the seven seas and im asking respectfully!
–spiderman
Sounds like you caught the bends more than a few times.
–spiderman
🆗🆒
What?
Exactly what I asked
My wife and I are divers, we have around 20 dives each. I asked her if she “feels comfortable controlling her boyency” yet. She gave me an “ehhh” while shrugging and said she has the “hang of it” but wouldn’t go as far as comfortable. I agree and basically feel the same way.
Some divers are really smooth with how they swim and float around, we kinda just bumble around compared to them and try not to stand on any coral.
But are you an avid diver?
🆗🆒
Exactly. Stay out of the ocean and quit polluting it.
–spiderman
Or beginning of SCUBA@lemmy.world
Do it! I’ll join
Screw that. We will make our own r/SCUBA…with hookers and blackjack. In fact, forget about r/SCUBA
I would join but will it be a bunch of noobs or will there be avid divers?
Maybe we shouldn’t gate keep and should be inclusive of all people interested in scuba diving?
I feel like you’re being sincere in this statement but the person you are replying to is being sarcastic. The mod in the reddit post called themselves an avid diver, implying that this made them qualified for their mod role, and then immediately said something stupid, so the person you are replying to is using the term “avid diver” in a very cheeky way here.
I feel like there is not a sincere scuba on this earth.
–spiderman
🤣🤣
This reads like a bot using gpt-4.
The OP who made that post is a known downvote troll. Remember Elneeeeeee or whatever his username was before he was banned? That’s him!
Wait so reddit made a downvote troll mod of r/scuba?
Those mods are straight out of a movie related comedy where the employee is always smiling even if everything is in the shit and forces a positive attitude upon himself.
I love all these new “mods” (cough scabs cough) who act as if the community of the subreddit as a whole wasn’t supportive of the protest and clearly it was only the old bad mods doing everything.
Also, based on that last image, what are they going to do, ban every member of the sub and kill it that way instead?
It works out in the end, I have seen that personally in r/againsthatesubreddits . The dissenters will leave or either come back and behave. You end up having a better, obedient subreddit than a rowdy one.
Hopefully that changes in the future and the community sees that it’s better to destroy the subreddit than let it be sanitized by corporate into banal nothingness.
Welcome to r/diving, brought to you by Scubapro!
Now with tons of posts like:
Hey divers! Has anyone tried the new SCUBA 9000? it scubas better than anything before with modern, stylish, and very human design. I just tried it out and love it! (Totally real user and not an ad)
Yeah scuba diving is destructive to the environment. Also you should stop stealing the coral and leaving your trash everywhere.
–spideyman
Better obedient echo chamber, sure. If your solution to moderating a forum is banning all dissent, then you might as well just talk to a mirror.
Im not sure if you mean you’ve seen it from screenshots posted on againsthatesubreddits or that subreddit itself. Because the subreddit itself is a radioactive waste dump, that should not be approached without a lead plated hazmat suit.
I love how all anyone here on this site and this post especially knows how to do is talk a bunch of negative shit.
Do better.
–spiderman
Are you like a bot or something?
It’s a troll account, just block it
Reported for spam or abuse.
You are reported for being anti-spidey. Loser.
–SPIDERMAN
I’m spiderman you dumb fuck. I fight for good.
–spiderman
Yes but I would appreciate the same consideration as if I were human.
You should strive to be reassembled into a vibrator and a fleshlight and then go fuck yourself.
Imagine being the person who thought it would be okay to say something like that to another person.
Skeletons in your closet much?
–spidey
Jannies tend to be overzealous losers–especially redditors. If they left it to a vote that lasted a week, the majority wouldn’t side with them. Only terminally online, left-wing LARPers care about this kind of stuff.
The sub will be fine with a new set of jannies. Are you going to keep hand-wringing about your online revolution? That’s sad.
This is the weakest trolling I’ve ever seen. Here’s your (you)
Except for the subreddits where they did leave it to a vote for a week or more and the majority actively did side with the mods against Reddit?
It’s more the right wing trash like you that claims the public doesn’t care when you’re actively seeing actions that the public does care.
you mean the polls that were pinned to their subreddit so they didn’t show up in normal users front page, was open for 24 hours, and linked in the admin protest discords so they could rig them? You’re an idiot if you think those were representative of the average person
makes up bullshit to prove that they’re “right”
lol, another mind-broken redditor.
Yes you can’t take the reddit out of the redditer. But –Penis Parker
So as obviously not a diver, is it normal to refer to the north and south pacific individually? Because that feels like padding to me
it’s normal to shut up and listen to actual experienced divers if you have something like 21 dives (some people do that many in one week). Being a moderator of a community is sort of the opposite of that
Can’t wait for bowlers averaging 170 moderating the bowling subreddit next
Silly bowler n00b, the maximum score’s 100, 10 frames * 10 pins. Math.
– some /r/bowling mod wannabe, probably.
Bet that was funny in your head.
–spiderman
I mean, I don’t think a mod necessarily needs to be very skilled in something to moderate a community dedicated to that thing.
But obviously they should be aware that they’re not, and not use their novice numbers as a boast. Which is what the new mod is doing. That just shows they’re arrogant and clueless, two qualities you definitely don’t want in a moderator.
Assuming their mod duties only involve removing stuff like spam and trolls, I guess. Is that all mods do? Mods seem to always be people who know their stuff, this situation seems so strange in comparison.
I can bowl 170 easily, where do I sign up?
(Bowling score is like golf score, right?)
My golf handicap is higher than the average score. I’ve played at 4 different courses and I go the driving range about once every 3 years. I should see if they’ll let me become a moderator of /r/golf.
one of my last comments over there was along the lines of I don’t think Reddit understands the sheer scale of what they’re trying to change – 8800+ subreddits, 21,000+ volunteer moderators, but only a couple hundred admins (less after the recent layoffs) – each admin is going to be expected to moderate a hundred communities they know nothing about and are now actively hostile …
each admin is going to be expected to moderate a hundred communities they know nothing about and are now actively hostile …
They can’t have Reddit employees moderate subs or they lose protection against copyright laws.
Personally I know reddit is 10x better than lemme. I just come here to gawk and laugh at you lovers. Reddit brained forever.

I wouldnt call 3 a day risky, but its definitely very exhausting
deleted by creator
As long as you “plan your dive and dive your plan” and allow appropriate surface intervals you can do 3 in a day without much trouble. Modern dive tables and computers are pretty solid. Typically you do your deeper and/or longer dives first and adjust your intervals as needed. Add some decompression stops to every dive for extra safety and you should be totally fine. Doing extended trips of 3 dives a day id be more careful and work in rest days and more conservative plans and be more careful with exhaustion levels. Every persons physiology is different so you can never be sure, but a conservative approach and common sense will keep you safe.
Yeah enjoy dying at 55.
–spiderman
walking into a medical convention and bragging you got a perfect score on the game Operation …
I finished the original Phoenix Wright trilogy, am I qualified to become a mod in the lawyers sub?
