I am trying to cut down on my screen time/internet use and up my consumption of slower and more analog media. I love reading print magazines and was wondering if there are decent ones any left. I’m looking for anything creative, thought provoking, and/or fun. Nothing too libbed up or too full of imperialist propaganda. Doesn’t have to be about politics but if there’s anything left-adjacent thats nice. I dunno, anyone have any suggestions?
I’ve only read a few pieces so far, but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen from n+1, which I learned about from this Hexbear post. I don’t think they’re communists or anything, but they do seem to have a broadly progressive stance. Here’s what I’ve read from them:
“The Feminist” (short story about a “nice guy”)
“Human Fallback” (personal account of working a soul-sucking chatbot job)
“An Age of Hyperabundance” (reporting from the floor of an AI conference)
“Two Days Talking to People Looking for Jobs at ICE” (pretty self-explanatory)
Ooh this seems promising thanks!
